As with L'Afrique, the OE release set out to improve
on L'Auguste. This time, the improvement wasn't so
noticeable, because the original wasn't so useless.
But she's still better than she was.
Her point cost is way down, and her cannons and her
ability are somewhat better. She lost a cargo space,
but since she's no longer trying to be a gold ship,
that's fine. If you're expecting to see the Union
Jack come sailing over the horizon, then send this
ship out against them with Captain, Helmsman, and a
201% hit rate. For other enemies, you might prefer
the Jaguar, with slightly better guns for one point
less. But nine points for what you get in this ship
is a fair price, no matter how you look at it.
The new and improved L'Afrique is not superb, but
she's way above mediocre. She may not become
anyone's favorite ship, but as you browse your
collection for ships you've never used before, I
think this one deserves a try.
