Ability: This ship can dock at an enemy home island
and load one treasure. If able, she must leave on
your next turn.
The Sea Nymph is one of those sad ships that hasn'
t aged well. She used to be a killer, but not
anymore.
The original Sea Nymph, which dates back to the
beginnings of Pirates, was fast (S+L), well-armed
(3S,3L,3L,3S), and cheap (10 points). This version
is slower, worse-armed, and more expensive. And what
do you get in exchange for all these drawbacks? The
rob-home-island ability. Do you know how many Pirate
ships have this ability? (Hint: fourteen.) She's
gone from a unique, inexpensive fighting ship to
just another slow-moving thief. Her partner in crime
in the PC release, the Wicked Wench, costs a bit
more, but she has much better cannons and can steal
far more gold.
This Sea Nymph's numbers are uniformly average,
and that's a pretty good assessment of her value.
Not bad, but certainly not good. Considering that
she used to be good, that's kind of sad.
