Ability: Mercenary. Turtle Ship. If this ship
succeeds at a boarding party, she may eliminate all
of the other ship's crew.
Someone in WK did not like the Mercenaries. They
got almost nothing in the way of outstanding surface
ships. The Sea Storm is typical of what they did
get.
For 12 points, you get roughly the same ship as
the Noble Swan, a Jade Rebellion turtle ship that
goes faster and costs half as much. Her ability
sounds like a killer, but how often will a one-masted
ship win a boarding action against a ship that's big
enough to carry multiple crew?
It just won't happen. Her lone cannon is a good one,
so you can use her for battle, but beware -- like
most turtle ships, ram her once and she's done for.
If you want a Merc turtle ship, stick with the
Divine Dragon, which goes a bit slower, has a much
more useful ability, and is otherwise identical, for
only 7 points.
The Sea Storm is a classic example of a ship
that's mismatched to its ability. That ability is
probably the reason for her high price, which makes
her close to a total waste.
