The second big junk from the Savage Shores release,
the Shui Xian is the more colorful of the two. Her
stats are virtually identical, except some variation
in the cannons that make her a little better at S
range and a little worse at L range. English crew
tend to be fighting crew, which can make this ship a
little better when the guns are run out.
If you use the linked crew, that takes care of the
Captain; now you just have to add a Helmsman, and
you're ready to rumble, with six cargo spaces still
free. Or you could use Griffin (RF 207), who gives
the Helmsman effect and a +1 on all cannon rolls,
for seven points. Don't forget two or three Oarsmen
for Shap'ng Tsai to sacrifice. Another useful crew
would be Lt. Henry Ducie Chads, who gives a SAT and
a bonus against Pirates. Heck, you can load this
ship up with all the fighting crew you can afford,
and she'll use them all quite well. Unless your foe
has Mermaids...
The Shui Xian is a nasty fighter. Pound for pound,
she's a slightly better value than the Celtic Fury,
but the difference is so small that you won't notice
it unless you're a statistics geek. This big ship
will clear the seas for you.
