Cadet-Captain Mike
Revenge (Pirates)
Card: SM #PS-007 (Uncommon)
Points: 11
Masts: 4
Cargo: 4
Moves: L
Guns : 4S,4L,4L,4S
Hit %: 133 (S), 67 (L)
Ability: This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls
against English ships.
The Revenge is a disappointing four-master with
nothing exceptional to say about her. Everything
about her is average or somewhat below average. She
would have fit in perfectly with the RotF release,
which was full of average ships, but it was her
misfortune to be part of the SM release.
Within that release are several ships that will
serve you better for roughly the same point cost:
the Sea Nymph (better cannons and faster), the El
Dorado (the Pirates' only derelict-stealer), the
Darkhawk II (which needs no introduction), the
Pandora (better cannons and huge cargo), or the
Raven's Neck (which we'll review later in the week).
So it's hard to find a good reason to use the
Revenge. Even if you're a big fan of the movie "The
Princess Bride," you can't use the Revenge to carry
Wesley (from the BC release) in his guise as the
Dread Pirate Roberts, because they defined Wesley as
a Corsair and not a Pirate.
The Revenge is too slow for gold or boarding, and
her cannons don't make the grade for fighting. She
gets sub-average marks across the board.
