At last, we get to a Pirate ship from Spanish Main
that I can say something good about! The Raven's
Neck has multiple virtues, in fact.
Her cannons are above average, which makes her a
decent fighter. Her deep cargo holds make her a good
gold ship. I'd recommend giving her a Captain and
Helmsman and using her as a combo ship; she can
scoop up the best treasure from several islands, and
blast the masts off any enemy gold ship or small
fighter that gets too close. The Darkhawk II can do
this with two more cargo and two less points, but
then, the Darkhawk II is better than just about
anything. This ship is a perfectly good substitute,
and her ability is icing on the cake.
If you confuse this ship with the similarly-named
Raven (from the CC release), you won't suffer; the
Raven is also a fine gold ship. But the versatility
of the Raven's Neck puts her in a better category --
only a handful of ships can both fight and run gold
simultaneously. This ship is a good one.
