Ability: This ship may dock at an enemy home island
and load one treasure. If able, she must leave on
your next turn.
The "old" Santa Lucia was a two-masted fighter.
The new one is a one-masted gold ship. Is this
progress? Let's see...
Her one poor cannon rules out fighting in all but
the most desperate of circumstances. Her cargo of 4
and her single-digit price tag tell me she's meant
for gold, although she really needs a Helmsman to be
effective. As for using her ability, forget it;
she'll never get away with it. The enemy's weakest
gold ship can take her out just by ramming her.
Her above-average value score doesn't mean she's
an above-average Spanish gold ship, only that she
gives better than average value for her point cost.
I could name a dozen Spanish ships that are better
at gold than this one, and most of them are better
values for the points as well. But if you don't own
La Monarca, La Santa Isabel, El San Jose, El
Alquimista, San Pedro, Buscador, Concepcion... well,
you get the idea.
If you don't have anything better in your
collection, and you want some gold for the glory of
Spain, this Santa Lucia can do the job.
