Name:HMS Dunlap (England)
Card:OE #047 (Uncommon)
Points:
11
Masts: 4
Cargo: 3
Moves: L
Guns : 2S,3S,3S,3S
Hit %: 217 (S), 0 (L)
Ability: Schooner. When touching a Pirate ship, this
ship may load as much of that ship's treasure as she
can carry.
This is our third ship in a row with four masts,
three cargo, a move of L, and average ratings. HMS
Dunlap makes an okay shooter, or an okay boarder.
Her ability would be worth more if she had more
cargo; without a Helmsman, she won't catch many
Pirates, which means "as much as she can carry"
means two treasures, tops. Her short-range cannons
are no handicap if boarding is her game.
This is just another average ship, neither horrible
nor excellent. If you're looking to try a different
ship from your same-old same-old, try her and see
what she does for you.

Buckland
Name: HMS Dunlap
Masts: 4
Cargo: 3
Speed: L
Firepower: 0ne 2S, three 3S.
Cost: 11pts
Ability: Schooner. When touching a Pirate ship, this

We have another ship with, four masts, three cargo
and L speed. With a mediocre ability. This is
starting to feel like ground hog day.
Anyway, despite that she’s useful. Whack a captain
and the good old trusted helmsman on. Thomas Gunn or
Hermione Gold R/F, will give you both and save a
cargo space, which is needed. Then look for a gold
hauling Pirate ship. A gold hauler not a gold
runner, as you’ll never catch them. No...Look for
those bigger ships with big pockets. The Pirates
have a few like, Darkhawk II, Cassandra or Pandora.
These ships make for bigger, fatter and slower
targets.
If you are lucky enough to get with in ramming
range, don’t ram just touch. If you use the side of
the ship, which is shaped like a “D”. You should be
able to just touch without using the bow to ram.
Then grab some gold and you’ll find that you’ve
avoided getting pinned, lovely jubbley. The trouble
is some of these types of ships can have half decent
cannons and captains. And will not take too kindly
to you nicking their booty. But HMS Dunlap, with a
captain and half decent cannons herself should be
capable to deal with any risk of retaliation.
The main problem I have is that for the same points
you can get HMS London. With the same ability and
better stat’s that cost 10.4pts without the ability.
That’s a big defference in value batween the two
ships. Also that is one....lets say; prat-a-around
way of getting gold. Personnelly I can’t see what’s
wrong with just sailing up to a wild island, loading
gold and sailing back again. Much simpler.
That’s take a look at the breakdown of costs.
