The name "The Corsican" may be a reference to
Napoleon, who was born there. If so, then this ship
and her DJC sister ship, Le Bonaparte, make one heck
of a team. Both shoot well and both have killer
defensive abilities.
As with most ships with double-tough masts, La Corse
is on the slow side. Her cannons are okay, since
there are four of them, and she has plenty of cargo
space for fighting crew. The bad news is that she's
on the expensive side; just the minimum crew of
Captain and Helmsman will run up her sail-away cost
to 22 points, and if you want any other help, like a
Shipwright (very useful on a ship with this ability)
or Gentil de la Barbinais (the French world-hater),
be prepared to sink a LOT of points into this boat.
That said, this is one tough fighter. The only
solutions to her ability are Broadside Attack or a
canceller. Without those, it takes eight hits to
derelict her, and she'll be shooting back the whole
time. Not many ships can take that kind of
punishment; La Corse can. So send her where the
fighting is fiercest, and keep her there until the
enemy strikes his colors or sinks beneath the briny.
Vive la France!
