The HMS Alexander is very similar to yesterday's
ship, the Pirate Bonnie Liz, except for one less
cargo and a different ability. Why pick one over the
other?
Obviously, if you're making an all-English fleet,
the virtues of the Pirate ship won't matter. England
never had many good gold ships, but this would be
one of them. Unlike the Bonnie Liz, however, this
ship has a second role, which comes into play if
you're expecting to face off against the Tricolour.
Put a Captain on her and send her out to chase
French gold ships. She's got the speed, her cannons
become 2S against the French, and she still has room
for gold, either stolen from French ships or from
wild islands. The English have nothing better for
that role.
Most low-priced ships are good at just one thing
(or nothing at all).
HMS Alexander is an exception that should be on
every English admiral's "A" list.
