French Week begins with the Carcajou, a
thoroughly average little fighter.
I can't say much about her, good or bad. It would
be nice if she had a bit more cargo, or if one of
her cannons was S-range for flexibility, but she
doesn't and it isn't. Her ability equals a built-in
Cannoneer, which will be a help with her average
cannons. Her price tag is a very fair estimate of
her value; at least, if you use her, you aren't
overpaying. The trouble is, the French already have
better fighting ships for the same point cost or
less.
If you have a decent French collection, you
probably already own La Lyon (FN), Le Lache du
Calvados (MI), or La Felicite (RV). These all cost
the same as the Carcajou and give considerably more
fighting power. Or you could save a point and still
get a better fighter with Le Courageux (RV), Le
Bonne Chance (OE), or Le St. Michel (CC). Heck, you
could go as low as 7 points and still get a better
fighter with L'Afrique (OE). I don't know what
"Carcajou" means in French, but it doesn't mean
"excellent ship."

Well bonjour! Welcome to French week. I hope this
week I’ll have my format worked out. I changed it
halfway though English week and reverted back. Only
something went wrong, so I do apologize for making
my OE reviews harder to read.
Anyway, we start with a two mast ship from fire and
steel. Quite a reasonable little fighter. I say
fighter because of her ability. Rank three guns are
average but with the cannoneer ability you stand
quite a good chance landing a hit or two. The
problem is that she’s not that good value. Without
her ability she comes out at just under seven
points. That’s fine but you’re paying four points
for a two point ability, which I can’t understand.
Either way she’ll serve a purpose, get into a fight
and use those cannons to make the most of that
expensive ability.
