If this ship has a
Captain
crew, she gets +1 to her cannon rolls
Today’s ship is a very affordable fighting ship.
With the two standard fighting crew her base move
goes from good to excellent and her cannons drop
from rank three’s to rank two’s. All for a sail away
cost of 18 points. She’s priced about right but
there’s no evidence of any discounts to give a
bargain. Since the formula WK used, did include
points modifiers for the French. Allowing points to
be round down instead of up for example.
With plenty of cargo to be had and points you can
add a crew or two. There’s a lot which you could do.
A fire-pot or sink-pot would be useful on the
generic side. For named crew you could opted for a
canceller, swap the captain for a
SAC captain and fill the rest of the cargo up
with expendable crew. The choice is endless, as long
as she’s got that all important captain then she’s
good to go.
The only downside is that she’s a schooner and
schooners don’t make the best gunships. Due to their
overlapping masts. However, if you’re like me and
can never be bothered to work out that over complex
firing arc. So have a house rule ignoring it, then
she’s just as good.
