Name: HMS Titanic
(England)
Card: FN #1912 (Unlikely)
Points: 27
Masts: 6
Cargo: 6
Moves: S+S
Guns : 2S,3L,3L,3L,3L,2S
Hit %: 333 (S), 200 (L)
Ability: Icebreaker. If an iceberg moves into
contact with this ship, it sinks and is removed from
the game.
Description: The unsinkable HMS Titanic is the
largest icebreaker ever built, and Captain Jack
Dawson commands her with flair and style. She is
fast, powerful, and unstoppable in every way. Well,
almost.
Not many Pirates players have ever seen this
remarkable ship, which was produced in very limited
quantities. That might be a good thing, because if
everybody had one, she'd rival HMS Endeavour and HMS
Titan for the title of "most over-used English
battlewagon."
Six good cannons and good speed (for her size) make
her powerful enough to own the heart of the ocean.
Yes, her point cost is sky-high, but you definitely
get what you pay for here. That cost, and her huge
cargo holds, means you can fill her with all the
fighting crew you can afford.
Her ability could be a drawback, but seriously, what
are the chances of an iceberg hitting this ship? Her
speed could keep her out of any trouble that a-rose.
This ship's value rating is lower than you'd expect
only because she costs so much. In fighting terms,
she has few equals. If you can afford her, she can
make you the king of the world.
Name: HMS Titanic
Masts: half a dozen
Cargo: half a dozen
Speed: S and another S
Firepower: quite a lot, 2S, four 3L, and another 2S
Cost: A mere 27pts
Ability: Completely and utterly unsinkable and she
can smack around some ice too.
Here we have HMS Titanic, quite a rare game piece
which you don’t see very often. If at all.
At 27pts she’s a complete bargain for an unsinkable
ship. Now there is a bit of a gray area when it
comes to her ability. But let’s be honest, what are
the chances of a ship called Titanic hitting an
iceberg and sinking? I would say 1 in...Well...1.
But there’s really no need to worry about that.
Now gold running is probably not the best roll for
this ship. You might find that she could sink on her
first trip to that wild island. But what are the
chances of any unsinkable ship called Titanic
sinking her first voyage? I would say 1
in...Err...well 1.
As for combo’s I would put aboard captain and a
helmsman and team her up with some smaller support
ships. Such as HMS Blazer or HMS Hound. All should
serve as excellent life boats but you might find
that due to her high build cost you might not have
enough. Not to worry, she’s unsinkable and shouldn’t
need many life boats to support her.
Having the icebreaker keyword is good, but the best
way to deal with icebergs is speed and ignorance.
Helmsman, trade currents, anything that’ll get her
speed up and get her amongst those bergs.
