Buckland
Name: Specter
Masts: 5
Cargo: 4
Speed: L
Firepower: one 4S, three 3S, one 4S
Cost: 21pts
Ability: Fear. After this ship moves, she can look
at all treasure on all islands and ships within L of
her.
Today's ship is another very rare ship. In which you
need a miracle in order to obtain her. She shares
similar attributes with her larger counterpart
Delusion. Expensive, glow-in the dark and Unholy
Light.
Her guns aren’t the best but she does have five
masts. Any five master should never be
underestimated. Even the bad ones can make
formidable gunships. Since the Cursed have very few
ships this size she should be coincided for a
frontline roll. The usual fighting crew will be
needed, plus I would put aboard Cavendish or
Tabitha. Have a crew which would improve the cannons
ranks and then you have the flexibility to use
another crew you deem necessary. Also any crew which
are captured during the game.
The Fear ability is something I’m not a great fan
of. Still, its cheap and you might get lucky with
it. Her Unholy Light ability is worse. To me it’s
nothing more then a glorified explorer that costs
the Earth. For it to pay for itself it would have to
be changed to “After this ship moves, she can scoop
up all gold on all islands and ships within six feet
of her and place on HI”.
Her glow-in the dark ability I would image is quite
desirable to collectors. For us players not so much
so. Sure it’s fun looking at your ship in the dark.
You can’t play in the dark though. You can’t see the
rest of you fleet, islands get knocked and you have
no idea what gold you’re picking up. Trust me,
doesn't work.
