The Princess, like a few other PotC Pirate ships,
is a reworked version of an older ship, in this case
the Longshanks (PS-018 from the SM release). The
latter is one of my favorite Pirate ships, serving
as a speedy back-up fighter and auxiliary gold ship
for a tiny point cost.
To make the Princess, they took the Longshanks,
slowed her down, and made her L-range cannon worse,
without adding anything good in return.
That doesn't leave much to love. Her ability hurts
her as a gold ship, her cannons are now sub-average
for fighting, and her slower movement holds her back
no matter what she does. She can ram and board most
gold ships, and fill her holds with gold that way.
If she can catch them, that is. Nevertheless, for
only six points, she isn't truly awful, just a
disappointment.
If I was going to sail this Princess, I'd crew
her with Captain and Helmsman, and send her out to
do whatever mischief she could. But if I owned the
Longshanks, then I'd leave the Princess in port,
like I do with all inferior copies of formerly good
ships.
