It's the Americans' week this
week. Just be aware that I'm an unregenrate
Yankophile (that means the USA is my favorite
fleet); take that into account as I offer these
reviews.
USS Lenox is one of those
nondescript ships that made up 80% of the last few
Pirates releases. She isn't visibly good at
anything, nor is she horribly bad. You can crew her
with a Captain and use her as a support fighter, or
give her a crew like King George (boarding bonus)
and use her for boarding, where her ability will let
you steal an extra coin every time you ram. She
really needs a Helmsman either way if you expect to
catch anything. She won't do badly in either role,
although boarding is probably better.
But why bother? For the cost of
the Lenox and King George, you could get the
Saratoga (RV). That schooner can do S+L without
needing a Helmsman, and she has the boarding bonus
built-in, plus an extra mast and an extra cargo
space, both of which are wonderful things to have if
you want to go a-boarding. It's just a sad fact that
the ships that came out earlier, as a general rule,
are better than the newer ships. The Lenox isn't a
bad ship, but as I'll say so often, you can do
better.
