Hit %: 117 (S), 0 (L)
Ability: Galley. Once per turn,
this ship may randomly take one treasure from any
ship she touches.
When I'm not using my beloved
Americans, my #2 fleet is the Corsairs, because
they're fast, cheap, and colorful. This galley could
be a useful part of any Barbary fleet.
With triple-S speed and 3 cargo,
this ship's role should be obvious:
fighting! No, just kidding. With
those awful cannons, fighting is the last thing she
should try. The only thing a 5S cannon is good for
is to be a sacrifice if you get hit. No, this is a
gold ship through and through. She's fast enough to
put her ability to use if you want to try it, but
you'll have to pick your victim with care. Me, I
wouldn't even try it unless the enemy leaves a small
gold ship totally unguarded, and most enemies aren't
that stupid very often. I'd run gold with this
galley, and I do mean run.
The Corsairs have a bunch of good
gold ships, and this is one of them.
The big Barbary weakness is that
they don't have much fighting power to defend all
those juicy gold ships, as I found out during our
year-long campaign. But a ship like the Splendor
could be a big help if she joined a group like the
Americans or the Cursed, who don't have much in the
way of decent gold runners.
