The island of Madagascar was a
pirate stronghold for years; it gave them easy
access to the trade routes from Europe to India and
Asia. This Pirate ship looks like a worthy resident
of that island.
The Madagascar was made for
boarding gold ships and stealing their money. She
has the speed to overhaul them, the mast count and
the ability to defeat them, and the cargo holds to
profit from it. Her cannons are poor, but even one
hit equates to a +1 boarding bonus, so she doesn't
need world-beating cannons for her boarding actions.
She can serve well as a gold ship if boarding
victims can't be found, but she's way too expensive
to pursue that role exclusively.
Like the Sea Monkey we looked at
yesterday, the Madagascar is a good value if you use
her aggressively in her combined roles of
gold-stealer and gold-runner. If you just want a
gold ship, the Pirates have dozens of ships that can
serve just as well for a lot fewer points.
