My gaming group doesn't own any
Scorpions (not since somebody sat on Almirante
Antonio's Bloody Blade), so my firsthand knowledge
of what they can do is limited. The Crusher is a
vanilla version of the type, with no other abilities
and no stats worth mentioning, aside from good
cargo.
To me, that suggests that the
Crusher's role should be a boarding ship.
She can use her blade to cut down
the odds against her, then board and steal gold.
She'll need a Helmsman or she'll never catch any
gold-laden ships, and you might consider a Captain
as well; an evil-looking ship like this will become
a cannonball magnet, and she may have to fight her
way home after boarding once or twice.
But at a sailaway cost of 17
points, this is kind of an expensive solution to the
problem of "how do I get more gold?" Sure, the ships
with moving parts are cool, and that big choppy
blade intimidates the enemy, but if your goal is to
win, there are ships that will get you there better,
or faster, or cheaper, or all three.
