This is Jade Rebellion Week. This
will be the last Jade Rebellion Week ever, because
we've now reviewed all the Jade ships and all but a
handful of the crew. Our first ship of this final
week is the turtle ship Hansan Island, named after a
naval battle as significant to Korean naval history
as Trafalgar is to the British.
The ship herself is kind of
ordinary. Her ability, combined with the fact that
you can't board a turtle ship unless the owner lets
you, means she can do more damage than usual by
ramming. With one mast, don't bother boarding
anything big; you might have fun stealing treasures
from small gold ships, though. If that's your plan,
you'll need a Helmsman.
If, on the other hand, you want to
use her as a small fighter, you still need the
Helmsman, and a Captain as well. If you use it this
way, avoid boarding; you can't afford to lose that
Captain. Just ram, then shoot.
She has little potential as a gold
ship, unless you use her to transfer gold home from
faster ships (like the Noble Swan and Proud
Tortoise, both turtle ships with similar point cost
but more speed).
The Hansan Island isn't an
exceptional ship, but she certainly doesn't stink.
For only seven points, you get more combat ability
than most one-masted ships. She isn't the best,
though.
