ChaosReaper on Pirates of the Spanish Main
The
Sea-faring Duelist Hey everyone. Captain ChaosReaper here for this week's article. Today I start my Custom Scenario hiatus (mainly cause I can't think of any really cool ideas) so I'm writing up some random articles now.
Today I bring you the fusion between my love for this game, and my love of Yugioh.
I bring you the deck for the Sea-faring Duelist
Broadside Blast:
Monsters- 19 3x Yomi Ship 3x Skull Mariner 2x Cure Mermaid 2x Mermaid Knight 2x Mother Grizzly 3x Dark Mimic lv 1 1x Dark Mimic lv 3 2x Ameba 1x Exiled Force
Spells- 15 3x Umi 1x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Heavy Storm 3x Giant Trunade 3x Cold Wave 1x Snatch Steal 3x Rain of Mercy
Traps: 6 1x Torrential Tribute 2x Reckless Greed 1x Greed 3x Treasure Map
There it is, in all its sea-worthy glory. For those who don't play Yugioh (or for the ones that do but don't know any of them), I'm going to go through my choices for you.
Monsters- 18 3x Yomi Ship 3x Skull Mariner -Everyone needs ships in the ocean. While Skull Mariner has no effect, yomi ship has an effect that destroys the monster that killed it, and it can be grabbed by Mother Grizzly. 2x Cure Mermaid 2x Mermaid Knight -Our favorite event in the form of monsters. Both searchable by Mother Grizzly, Cure mermaid allows you to gain life, while Knight can attack twice in the same turn if "Umi" is out 2x Mother Grizzly -Don't know why a grizzly bear is supposed to represent water monsters, but neither does anyone else. If this is destroyed in battle, you can search out any water monsters with 1500 attack or less. Yomi ship, Cure mermaid, Mermaid Knight, Mother Grizzly, Ameba. 3x Dark Mimic lv 1 1x Dark Mimic lv 3 -Every Pirate needs his Treasure Chest. Although they are not water, they are helpful. If you put Dark Mimic lv 1 face down, and then it gets flipped, you get to draw a card. Lv 3 can draw a card if destroyed in battle, and if it was brought out by lv 1 (meaning if you have a Dark Mimic lv1 alive after you draw at the start of your turn, you get to transform it into lv 3) you draw 2 instead. 2x Ameba -Plauge and Scurvy in a monster form. Both of those can cause much pain to you, and spread like wildfire. This monster can attack your opponent lifepoints directly. (meaning that even if your opponent has a monster, you can choose to not attack a monster and go for his/her lifepoints) If it does damage, it's attack starts increasing. Just keep in mind that Ameba needs to have its attack increased first so it can do the first damage and get its effect. 1x Exiled Force -Every Ship needs a hearty crew. This monster has an effect that requries you to sacrafice itself to kill any monster of your opponent's.
Spells- 15 3x A Legendary Ocean -A Field spell card, this card represents the Ocean. Gives a 200 attack bonus to every water monster. 1x Mystical Space Typhoon 1x Heavy Storm 3x Giant Trunade 3x Cold Wave 3x Rain of Mercy -All Weather related cards. Mystical Space typhoon destroys one spell or trap card, Heavy storm destroys them all, Giant Trundae returns them all, Cold wave stops both players from activating any spells and traps, and rain of mercy gives both players 1000 life-points 1x Snatch Steal -Stealing is always in a Pirate's todo list. Snatch Steal allows you to take a monster of your opponent's and keep it for as long as Snatch Steal lasts
Traps: 6 1x Torrential Tribute -Waves of Vengence! Go! A trap that activates when anyone summons a monster, it destroys any monster on the field 2x Reckless Greed -Ahh the greed of pirates. It allows you to draw 2 cards, but you skip the next 2 turn draws. 1x Greed -Ahh the greed of other people. Whenever your opponent draws a card outside of the normal turn draw, he/she loses 500 lifepoints. 3x Treasure Map -Why wouldn't you run these with this theme? Pirates and Treasure Maps go together like Cereal and Milk! If the Map is returned from the field to the hand, you can activate it and draw 2 cards and discard 1. Works great with the Giant Trunade already in here.
Thats it for this deck. A fun deck for everyone who likes both games.
Next Week- I start a series of articles on how to personalise your own game!
