POKÉMON ANNOUNCES CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS Free Events Open To Local Pokémon Trading Card Game Players
BELLEVUE, Wash. – October 19, 2005 – Pokémon USA, Inc., a worldwide leader in trading card games, today announced the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) City Championships for players ages six years and older. City Championships provide players the opportunity to succeed at an intellectual sport and test a player’s Pokémon TCG skill, strategy and creativity.
City Championships will be held in hundreds of cities across North America, through the second weekend in January. Competitors are divided into three age categories: 10 and younger, 11 to 14, and 15 and older. City Championship players have the opportunity to earn Pokémon prizes including booster card packs and exclusive merchandise. The City Championships are the first played in a title series including State, Regional and National Championships leading up to the Pokémon TCG World Championships in August 2006. --- UPDATE FOR 10-19-05 Your Championship Season starts right here with your local Pokémon TCG City Championship tournament!
