Loretta's Pokemon Toy Blog
Memorial Day weekend brought some new Pokemon
items to store shelves. I noticed 2 new TCG gift
sets at Target. The first one centers on
Rayquaza, containing 2 prior release ex booster
packs and a Rayquaza foil (same as in a prior
gift set, POP promo). The other gift set
contains 2 D&P boosters and 2 reverse foil
cards; the reverse foil cards I saw were Buizel
and Combee or Bidoof and Shinx.
The Jakks Pokemon Battle Frontier Wave 2 Deluxe figures including Deoxys, Mewtwo, Machamp and Metagross showed up at one of my local TRU's and sold about as quickly as they hit the shelf. I believe Target got some in, too; I saw one lone leftover figure at one store I hit. It seems internet toy dealer sales are just as brisk, check this scan with a sold out banner: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=JK59757ATarget and Walmart finally put out some of the regular wave 2 individual figures; the Charmander seems to disappear the quickest of this bunch: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/prodinfo.asp?number=JK59701AI don't think I need bother mention that anywhere restock has occurred on the mini-plush, those have sold fast, too. Piplup is still the highest demand of the bunch from what I can tell. Someone dropped the ball when it came to the Nintendo and Prima National Pokedexes scheduled for May 27 release. Stores that had D&P guides on the rack at the crack of dawn on D&P release date did not have the Pokedexes on Sunday; I called around and stopped in a few places and was surprised by this fact. Stores that did have the guides included gaming stores like EBGames and GameStop; however, if you did not preorder, they did not have an abundant extra supply. The Nintendo Pokedex was $18.99 and the Prima, $19.99. The Pokedexes had 490 creatures listed; if you read Corocoro, you'll notice that Japan has a few more... Hmm. Does this mean Nintendo is planning "events" to get the others? :) Loretta
