Top 6 Pokemon (Team Lists)
Jioruji Derako's Anti-weakness team
March 2, 2005
Here we go, my main team. This is the team I always use when
I'm in the Trainer Tower or battling with friends, and it
always pulls me though, although I don't know how well it
would fare though against a team that's been trained for
battling specifically. This team is more focused on using
the moves and Pokémon at the right times to win, as I don't
like to rely to much on items, etc. Knowing your weaknesses
and strengths is key for this team. Okay, I've talked to
much here. Let's get to the team.
Name: Mewtwo
Type: Psychic
Ability: Pressure
Attacks:
-Psychic
-Flamethrower
-Future Sight
-Recover
Strategy: I normally start the battle with Future Sight,
just in case they don't go down easy. Flamethrower is mainly
to take care of Bug-types, or to hit a Pokémon that is
strong against Psychic-type attacks. Psychic is just for the
power. And Recover is just for keeping him alive. It's also
good to remember the Future Sight you left floating, in case
you want to combo it with Psychic for a nice one-two hit, or
just use Recover and still keep up the offensive.
Name: Rayquaza
Type: Dragon/Flying
Ability: Air Lock
Attacks:
-Dragon Claw
-Fly
-Outrage
-Thunder
Strategy: I use Rayquaza in conjunction with my Mewtwo, as
together, they're my strongest Pokémon. Thunder kills off
any water Pokémon that might know Ice Beam, one of
Rayquaza's only weaknesses. Dragon Claw and Outrage are
Rayquaza's strongest attacks, and as not many Pokémon are
strong against Dragon-type attacks, they can normally deal
out more then their share of damage. Fly is always good, if
you think your opponent may try to use Ice Beam or something
similar. It's also good in that it gets the Same-type attack
bonus, or STAB. Overall, there's not too much strategy
involved with Rayquaza, just switch out with him whenever
you run into something your Psychic-types can't handle.
Name: Deoxys (Defense form)
Type: Psychic
Ability: Pressure
Attacks:
-Psychic
-Mirror Coat
-Psycho Boost
-Recover
Strategy: Deoxys (Defense form) is just pure tank. With
defense stats though the roof and a Recover attack, you're
indestructible. Psychic is still a strong attack on this
guy, and Psycho Boost is the ultimate finisher. Just try not
to use it to early, because it'll bring your attack stat to
almost nothing. Mirror Coat is a great move to jump on your
opponent if they get too cocky, although I myself was
thinking of putting Night Shade attack there instead.
Providing Deoxys is Lv. 100, you'd take out 100 HPs every
shot, regardless of attack or defense stats.
Name: Metagross
Type: Steel/Psychic
Ability: Clear Body
Attacks:
-Metal Claw
-Earthquake
-Psychic
-Meteor Mash
Strategy: Straight-out pounding. Being a Steel-Psychic type,
it's only weak to Fire, is unaffected by Poison, and is
resistant to a whopping 8 other types, making this guy a
great tank. All of its attacks aside from Earthquake get the
STAB, and Earthquake is strong enough as it is. And don't
forget, Metagross's only weakness, Fire, just happens to be
weak to Earthquake. Basically, this is a great Pokémon to
switch out for if you need to use a few items, or you're
battling someone with a lot of health.
Name: Jirachi
Type: Steel/Psychic
Ability: Serene Grace
Attacks:
-Confusion
-Rest
-Psychic
-Doom Desire
Strategy: Not as strong as the others, but Jirachi can still
hold its own. Thanks to its Serene Grace ability, Confusion
has double the chances of confusing your foe. Doom Desire is
a great move to start with, although you may want to confuse
your opponent first. Psychic is standard fare on a Psychic
Pokémon, and Rest is great if Jirachi starts losing the
battle. Also a Steel type, Jirachi shares Metagross's
resistance to 9 different types, so ko-ing Jirachi isn't as
easy as it may seem at first.
Name: Absol
Type: Dark
Ability: Pressure
Attacks:
-Bite
-Future Sight
-Faint Attack
-Perish Song
Strategy: Absol is here just to protect the rest of the team
from their weaknesses. Sure, Mewtwo's Flamethrower takes out
Bug types, but it's still weak to Dark and Ghost types.
That's where Absol takes over. Like Mewtwo, Absol can always
start with Future Sight. And Bite and Faint Attack stronger
then they first seem thanks to their STAB. And of course,
Perish Song never fails to take out your opponent's final
Pokémon. If you need to use it early, at least your opponent
will have to waste a turn switching out.
Well, there's the team. It's probably not the ultimate team,
but it's always worked for me. Another thing I'd like to
mention, this team was designed with weaknesses in mind. So,
for every weakness a Pokémon on this team has, there should
be at least one other Pokémon on this team with a way to
combat it or get around it.
