Hey welcome to the second pokimon of the week, I would like
everyone to take a look at wailord he's a very good pokemon.
Comments on this pokemon a huge pokemon pure water, a good
addition to any pokemon most favorite move is waterspout.
Groudon's Pokedex observation.
In pokimon ruby and sapphire you can only get Wailord by
catching a wailmer onroute 20-30 I think. Wailmer evolves
into wailord at level 40. And Key note wailord is needed to
unlock the regi's.

#100 Wailord
Type: Water
Wailmer-Wailord
Wailord is a medium pokemon. Wailord has excellent HP and it has
medium stats in everything else.
Wailord in my oppinion is a waste of time it has less than
desirable speed and both defenses are just despicable plus it
has bad speed so it wont survive a thunder.
My rating:1.5/5
ruby:1
sapphire:1
fire red:1
leaf green:1
emerald 2 (only because of the battle frontier)
Brown Bomber
Waillord is the definition of
mediocrity. It is outclassed by Suicune, Swampert, and Milotic
in standard play, while it is inferior to Quagsire, Slowbro, and
Slowking in underused play. Wailord should only be used to get
the Regis in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald or on a never used team with
equally mediocre Pokemon.
The most effecitve Wailord set. Curse to boost Wailord's decent
base 90 Attack and pathetic base 45 Defense, and Ice Beam
Salamence if it comes in. Since Wailord will Curse to boost its
Defense, max out its Special Defense so that it can withstand a
few Special Attacks. 241 Special Attack allows for an OHKO on
Salamence on average, while the leftover EVs are spread to boost
Wailord's Attack and massive HP. 513 HP is 1 more HP than a
multiple of 16, allowing maximum Leftovers recovery and the
ability to switch into three layers of Spikes four times and
take eight turns. of poison, burn, or Leech Seed damage. Wailord
doesn't
need Speed, since its Speed will be decreased by Curse.
A pathetic attempt at the standard Surf/Ice Beam bulky water
set.
Unfortunately,
Wailord is nowhere near as durable as the typical bulky waters
Suicune and Milotic.
This set can act as a mediocre Skarmbliss "counter"; when
Blissey switches in, poison it with Toxic. Afterwards, use
Substitute; Wailord will get a free Sub, since Blissey will
switch to heal itself with Natural Cure, use Aromatherapy to
clear all status effects, or use Seismic Toss. Since Wailord
makes over 100 HP Substitutes, its Sub won't be broken by a
Seismic Toss. Afterwards, if Blissey stays in, keep using Toxic
until it runs out of PP for Aromatherapy. Blissey can switch to
get rid ofthe poison with Natural Cure; however, you'll have
wasted Aromatherapy's PP and forced Blissey out. This works best
with Spikes on your opponent's field, so that you can damage the
Pokemon that comes in when Blissey switches out.
Unfortunately, Surf is a 3HKO on Skarmory, allowing the metal
bird to lay Spikes and run away before Surf kills it or to blow
away Wailord's Substitute with Roar/Whirlwind.
Wailord has maxed out Defense so that it can take physical
attacks such as Hidden Power Flying and Earthquake from physical
sweepers and wreak havoc with Surf and Ice Beam. 241 Special
Attack allows for an average OHKO on Salamence with Ice Beam, 28
Speed for Pokemon that try to outrun Weezing and Tyraniboah (a
Tyranitar with Crunch/Thunderbolt/Substitute/Focus Punch), and
the rest is in HP for 1 more HP than a multiple of 16.
Don't use this set, as OHKOs are banned in competitive play.
Keep using Fissure and pray that you'll kill an opposing Pokemon.
Ice Beam is for Flying Pokemon and Sturdy Pokemon that resist
Sheer Cold; since most Sturdy Pokemon don't resist Ice Beam, Ice
Beam quickly kills them. If Wailord is weakened or runs low on
PP for Fissure, use Rest and keep going for crapshoots with
Sheer Cold. The EVs are the same as above; if you're going for
OHKOs, you'll need a lot of Defense so that Wailord can survive
and keep trying to kill the opposing Pokemon.
With terrible defenses, a barren movepool, and a myriad of other
Water Pokemon to choose from, Wailord is pathetic. It is one of
the filler Pokemon shoved into Ruby/Sapphire whose sole purpose
is to obtain three legendaries that are actually usable. After
you obtain the Regis, leave Wailord to rot in your PC. Please
don't use Wailord in standard play.
