Hey welcome to
pokémon of the week,This pokemon of the week is Flygon,
is to be reviewed today he's a vey good pokémon with the
pokebody levitate so he can not get hit by ground moves
his dragonon and flying traits are good in battle and he
also has some ground moves from Trapinch.
Groudon's Pokedex observation.
In pokémon ruby/sapphire/emerald you can only get Flygon
by raising a Trapinch you catch trapinch in the desert
on route 119.
In pokrmon Firered/leafgreen
you can only trade for one off of pokemon
Emerald/ruby/sapphire.

Flygon is a slightly underrated Pokemon in the current metagame.
Overshadowed
by Salamence as the dominant Dragon, Flygon has been shunned
since it is just another Dragon with a quadruple weakness to
Ice. However, Flygon possesses nice resistances to Earthquake
and Thunder Wave due to its Ground typing and
Levitate trait, and has several effective movesets to work with.
Flygon (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Hidden Power [Bug]/Hidden Power [Flying]
- Quick Attack/Fire Blast
The standard Flygon. Flygon can switch easily into Earthquakes
and Rock Slides and begin attacking. Hidden Power Bug is for
Celebi, while Hidden Power Flying is for Fighters such as
Breloom and Heracross. Quick Attack takes out annoying Reversal
Pokemon and weakened Pokemon, while Fire Blast catches a
Skarmory or Forretress that thinks it can switch into Flygon
safely. Since Flygon is a Choice Bander, it needs Speed to sweep
and muscular Attack to harm the opposing Pokemon, so a simple
252/252/4 spread will suffice. If you are using Hidden Power
Bug, use 31/30/30/31/31/30 IVs for maxed Speed so that you can
tie with other base 100 Pokemon such as Salamence; if using
Hidden Power Flying, use 30/30/30/31/30/30 IVs for maxed Speed.
Screech Flygon is a nice alternative to the standard Choice Band
set if you aren't too keen with prediction. Use Screech to lower
your opponent's Defense; this will force a switch or cause the
Pokemon staying in to take a STAB Earthquake with its Defense
dropped two levels. If you use Screech on a weakened Milotic or
Suicune that switches in, you can finish it off easily with an
Earthquake.
With
some flinch "haxes" from Rock Slide, you may be able to take out
Skarmory if it stays in (however, it's doubtful that you'll be
able to take out Skarmory).
Flygon has 285 Speed to outspeed base 80 Pokemon such as Flygon,
maxed Attack to maximize the effectiveness of Screech, and the
rest of the EVs are
spread between its HP and Defenses to take random physical
attacks.
An alternative EV spread is:
EVs: 16 HP / 252 Atk / 240 Spd
This EV spread gives Flygon 296 Speed, allowing it to outspeed
base 85 Pokemon such as Heracross and have 1 more HP than a
multiple of 16 for maximum Leftovers recovery.
Special Flygon; this Flygon isn't as predominant as the physical
sets, but it is a nice alternative. Use Crunch to catch Psychics
such as Alakazam and Celeb and Fire Blast to catch Skarmory and
Forretress by surprise. Dragon Claw can take out weakened
Dragons (unfortunately, it can't OHKO Dragons); Giga Drain works
on Swampert and bulky waters, and is shocking since most people
don't know that Flygon can learn Giga Drain. Earthquake is a
STAB attack for sponges such as Blissey and Snorlax that resist
special attacks.
Flygon has maxed out Special Attack and 263 Speed to outspeed
base 70 Pokemon such as Breloom and Magneton. 132 Attack EVs
allow Earthquake to 3HKO a maximum HP, maximum Defense Calm
Blissey with Leftovers recovery sometimes, while the rest of the
EVs are placed in HP.
Flygon is an awesome Pokemon. It demolishes standards such as
Metagross and Tyranitar, is immune to sandstorms, can counter
Reversal Pokemon, and surprises your opponent with the special
set. If you're looking for a Pokemon to counter standards and
are sick of slapping Salamence on your team, try Flygon; it can
switch in fairly easily and proceed to sweep your opponent.

I admit I am biased toward flygon......
OK type ground/dragon?!?!!?
Strange combo no inherit advantages immune to eltric? Well, it
doesn't really matter cause its part dragon... Its ability
levitate so basically its immune to ground type moves cool.
Ok an abilities it has ok def. and special attk and Specail Def
but it excludes in normal attack and speed it is better at. This
means it meant to hit hard and fast and since its ground it has
one of my favorite ovens. Earthquake this makes it a wicked
sweeper or a Poke'mon meant to knock at the weakened ones your
opponent withdrew form battle
It learns some good move and its type are OK but watch out for
ice or it will die!
Score
5/5 Its part of my team so I am biased real score 3.5/5 just
need some more attk :)

At a glance, Flygon may not
seem like much. It has pretty good attack and speed, although
nothing to write home about, and the rest of his stats are about
average. His typing allows him to get STAB on Earthquake, which
is nice. His movepool is a bit baren; unlike Salamence and
Altaria, his fellow Dragons, he doesn't learn Dragon Dance.
What makes Flygon really exceptional is his typing. He has a
ground type paired with Levitate. Taking all of this into
account, he only has two weaknesses: Dragon and Ice. Ice is
really the only threat in standard format, and something he
should definitely be kept away from. He gets a handy resistance
to Fire and Poison, as well as Rock, and he gets two type
immunities: Ground and electric.
Flygon is one of two Pokemon in the game to resist both Rock and
Ground. This makes him a great counter for those whose primary
form of attack is Earthquake and Rock Slide, like Donphan,
Dragon Dance Tyranitar, and Dugtrio. His electric immunity is
also very nice, giving him the ability to counter Raikou,
Jolteon, and especially Zapdos, assuming they don't carry Hidden
Power Ice.
As for moves, all that Flygon has to work with besides damaging
attacks is Screech, really. Choice Band Flygon is the current
standard, taking advantage of Earthquake and Rock Slide. The
last two slots are whatever your team needs. Quick Attack can
work if you don't have a Tyranitar, Fire Blast/Flamethrower is
good for hitting Skarmory, Hidden Power Bug is great for nailing
Celebi switch-ins, and Dragon Claw paired with Fire Blast can
actually give you some decent type coverage on the special end.
Crunch is also an interesting move, and coupled with Fire Blast
can actually allow you to pull of some nifty tricks against
Pokemon like Claydol.
EVs on Flygon shouldn't be too hard to do. Since he doesn't
"suffer" from an excessively high attacking base stat, you
really should be putting half of your EVs there. You don't
necessarily have to max speed, although I would recommend having
at least enough to outspeed Heracross, 240 EVs with a perfect
speed IV should put you at 296 speed. If you're using a speed
raising nature, you should probably just stick with 300 speed,
148 EVs plus perfect speed IV will do that. The leftovers can go
wherever you want them. If Flygon is your primary Hidden Power
Grass Zapdos counter, then you'll definitely want enough special
defense EVs to survive three hits. Otherwise, I'd recommend
putting them into defense, to better absorb Rock Slide, but
really, it's your prerogative.
Overall, Flygon really is an excellent Pokemon with decent
defenses and one of the best sets of resistance in the game. As
a side note, the fact that you have Levitate rather than a
flying type is something you really should be aware off, so
don't be too suprised when your Earthquake can't hit stuff with
Trace.

flygon is an alright pokemon but because of its ground trait it
has more weaknesses than a salamence. Because of its ground type
it attracts the water weakness. And most good water pokemon have
the icebeam attack.
Flygon has good attack and good speed so physical moves are
best.
Flygon could be used as a special sweeper but it is better at
the physical sweeping. You could put the sunnybeamer combo to
get rid of water pokemon but at most it would only put them into
red health.

Ah, yes, Flygon. A very good
Dragon- Type with average Speed and Special Attack for a
Dragon-. Although it is Ground-Type and Dragon- Type, it has a
4x weakness to Ice- Type attacks. Its Levitate ability
practically gives another type: Flying-.
