Hey, Marcian Tobay here, the newest member of Pojo, and lets
hope a competent one.
Now, when I got the message that my "audition" would be by
saying what I thought of the freakishly popular Raichu, I wanted
to make sure that my opinion was solid. So I looked him up
online, and called a couple friends, and everything and everyone
I contacted basically gave me the same response:
"Why?"
Okay, so we all have our favorites, and we have all played
particular Pokemon in order to reach those so called "Style
Points" (if anyone wants to know how to make an all bug team
work, e-mail me), but the point of this forum is to discuss
strategy. There are over three hundred different Pokemon
available throughout the run of this series, and to choose only
six of them for your team, they have to truly tout something
grand, and this lil' guy has nothing but a modicum of higher
physical over other electrical Pokemon. Let me put this
delicately:
YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE PLAYING ELECTRIC!
Anyway, there are a wide variety of electric Pokemon that are
better than Raichu for different reasons. If you are playing
Electric because you like:
Stats: Go with Jolteon. Besides the attack, flat better stats
and almost identical moves.
Speed: Go with Electrode. Those of you that haven't been
guranteed a Thunder Wave opening haven't lived.
To Cover Your Basic Types: Choose Zapdos. Flying and Electric.
Nothing quite like Drill Peck and Thunder Bolt both in your
arsenal.
Raichu's got a decent Ability (Static can be a lot of fun), but
its kinda mooted by the fact that Electric Pokemon, Raichu
included, pack Thunder Wave as a standard attack.
So, in conclusion, I've got no problem with Raichu, but, if we
are going to discuss actual strategy and hardcore teams, there
is no good reason to pick Raichu over anyone else.

How was my audition?
God Bless,
Marcian
