Nidoking.
# 034.
Type: Poison/Ground.
Ability: Poison Point.
Locations: Evolve Nidorino (FireRed, LeafGreen).
Hi everyone. This Pokémon of the week is not a favorite of mine
at all. Anyway, let’s move on… Nidoking, ladies and gentlemen.
Nidoking and Nidoqueen have the same type combination. Almost
the same move pool and almost the same stats. BUT Nidoking is an
attacking Pokémon, and his female is kinda more defensive.
Nidoking learns Megahorn, which is good.
Unfortunately, it is not a very good type combination. Water and
psychic types are almost in every team. And both can defeat
Nidoking. Its ability is not so fabulous either, Nidoking might
poison the opponent, but it is not very important if he/she is
going to beat you first.
Let’s try to build a decent move combination for this one, shall
we? As Nidoking´s made to be an attacker. Let’s give it some of
the strongest and effective attacks…
Nidoking.
Nature: Jolly (+ Speed, -Special Attack).
Equip: Choice band.
EV´s: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
- Brick Break
- Shadow ball
The first choice bander I have reviewed here. Simple; sweep and
call out when necessary. You could change any attack for
Megahorn. It is effective and strong as well, but these four
make a good, well balanced and simple combination, I think.
When should I use this Pokémon?
Use it as any other sweeper. But be careful, as it is a Choice
bander. DO NOT send Nidoking out in late game, because it could
be your doom. Great for early game. Remember; sweep and switch
with this one.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
Water, Psychic, even Ground. If you have a Skarmory (reviewed 2
weeks ago), it will take care of Nidoking perfectly.
Bottom line:
Not one of my favorites. But good anyway. It is a Sweeper, but
there are many better than this one. Sorry…
Rating:
2.5/5
Hope you enjoyed.
