Gengar.
# 094.
Type: Poison/Ghost.
Ability: Levitate.
Locations: Evolve Haunter.
Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re
reviewing the king of ghosts; Gengar.
This guy has a tremendous amount of special attack and a great
speed. Unfortunately it has low defenses as well. So we’re going
to work on a “hit and run” Pokémon. Gengar has a very wide move
pool as well, and with some great moves like ice punch (emerald
only) and HP Dark, Gengar becomes a very unpredictable and
powerful Pokémon.
Its ability is just great. Levitate makes Gengar immune to
ground attacks, so earthquake will do nothing against our smiley
friend.
Now, for the move combination, we’re reviewing a Pokémon that
was made for special sweeping, so let’s focus on that, shall we?
Gengar.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 6 HP.
- Psychic
- HP Dark
- Giga drain
- Thunderbolt
Beautiful. Just sweep with whatever you think is best. Some use
will-o-wisp instead of Giga drain, but I only recommend that
move if you’ll use Haze as well (for anti-tank purposes). HP
Dark is for Psychics and Thunderbolt just because is great.
Gengar.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Speed, 252 Special Attack, 6 HP.
- Substitute
- Focus punch
- Ice punch
- Thunderbolt
The same guy, different move set. You know the substi-punch
combo, ice punch and thunderbolt for sweeping…
When should I use this Pokémon?
Use it against tanks if you have Haze as well, against Physical
sweepers like Snorlax or in double battles if you’re using
earthquake.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
A fast Dugtrio with HP Ghost will take it down, as well as a
fast and strong Psychic Pokémon. Just remember you have to be
fast and hit hard.
Bottom line:
No doubt about it, this one is the king of ghosts, use it
wisely…
Rating:
3.5/5
Hope you enjoyed.
