Lik3 its mewtw0 and its all c00l n stuff and it pwns i beat 4ll
of my n00b and retardo friends with it!!!1!1!!
Yeah, we have the infamous Mewtwo that comes from the glorious
old days of RBY, and still as kickass as ever. No matter what
your nubby friends in your neighborhood may say, Mewtwo is an "uber",
or Pokemon too overpowered for the standard metagame, and should
simply be regelated to the uber metagame where it can duke it
out with other powerhouses such as Groudon and Kyogre. But hey,
it's always fun for owning other Mewtwo fanboys and people that
insist on using their crappy half-uber teams. =D
Mewtwo @ Leftovers **This >StormRain
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 204 HP / 220 Spd / 84 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Psychic/Thunderbolt/Thunder
- Ice Beam/Thunderbolt/Thunder/Fire Blast/Hidden Power
[Dark]/Taunt
- Substitute/Recover
The standard (and arguably most effective) set for Mewtwo, the
Calm Minding set. Even in ubers where Psychic Pokemon are
prevalent, a Calm Minded Psychic is still a problem for a lot of
Pokemon in the metagame. The rest of the moves are your choice;
Thunder(bolt) owns Kyogre and can even go over Psychic if you
aren't worried about crap like Blissey, Ice Beam owns Groudon,
Lati@s, and Rayquaza, Fire Blast kills Metagross and the rare
Skarmory that ventures into ubers, HP Dark is an option for
other Psychics and Shedinja, and Taunt can stop other Calm
Minders and Blissey's attacks. With 101 HP Substitutes, Mewtwo's
Subs can live through Blissey's Seismic Tosses, while Recover
lets it replenish its godly HP. (If using Recover, take out 12
EVs from HP so that it has 401 HP.) Mewtwo has 351 Speed to
outspeed Timid Lati@s; it doesn't need to be Timid itself since
it won't outspeed any important Pokemon commonly seen in ubers.
The remainder is globbed in special attack to help out its
massive HP stat.
Mewtwo @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 204 HP / 84 Atk / 220 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Punch/Brick Break/Hidden Power [Rock]
- Substitute
A physical Mewtwo to catch people by surprise and own special
based ubers with "low" Defense. Shadow Ball cripples Psychics
and Shedinja; Focus Punch is there for a Substitute-Focus Punch
(SubPunching) combination that will allow Mewtwo to Focus Punch
Blissey, Snorlax, and Tyranitar from behind a Substitute even if
the Substitute breaks while Mewtwo attacks; Brick Break is a
slighlty "safer" option than Focus Punch, and HP Rock is for
Rayquaza, Shedinja, and the rare Ho-oh. Substitute is here to
create 101 HP Subs that survive through Seismic Toss and
physical attacks after Mewtwo has increased its Defense with
Bulk Up. It isn't a Groudon, but it's still fun. The EVs are the
same as the first set with the Special Attack EVs in Attack.
Mewtwo @ Choice Band
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 36 HP / 252 Atk / 220 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Selfdestruct
- Focus Punch
A Choice Banding Mewtwo. Fire Blast catches Metagross and
Skarmory, Shadow Ball is for Psychics, Focus Punch owns poor
li'l Blissey and Snorlax on the switch, and Selfdestruct (a move
it relearned from XD) can kill almost any Pokemon when Mewtwo
decides to retire. Again, there is 351 Speed for Lati@s;
Mewtwo's nice attack is maxed out while the leftovers are
dabbled in HP. Even with a Special Attack-decreasing nature,
Fire Blast OHKOs Skarmory all of the time (except for Skarmory
with a +Special Defense nature; they suck anyway and Fire Blast
still kills them most of the time). I'd probably go with this
over the Bulk Up set since it's slightly harder to get a Pokemon
set up in ubers.
Other Options: Thunder Wave and Toxic are nice status effects,
but Lugia and Deoxys-L are much better stallers in the uber
metagame. (Please don't try this in a defensive set with Calm
Mind; I'm looking at you, Maverick.) It can Safeguard, but
Substitute and Taunt already block status. Reflect and Light
Screen can be pseudo-passed, but again, Lugia does it better.
Mewtwo's primary options have been stated in the recommended
movesets.
Counters: Metagross, Tyranitar, Snorlax, Shedinja, Groudon
Earthquakes and Rayquaza HP Bugs on the switch-in. For the Bulk
Up set, Skarmory. Blissey isn't a counter since Mewtwo can
Recover in its face or make 101 HP Substitutes for Seismic Toss.
Watch out for the Psych Up Blissey that can copy Mewtwo's Calm
Minds, though.
Opinion: Mewtwo is one of the top Pokemon in the game, a
position that it has held since the original Pokemon games. It
can pull off a plethora of movesets that range from the simple
Calm Minding set to the shocking Choice Band set. It is truly a
top contender in the uber metagame and is way too powerful to be
allowed in normal metagame, no matter what noobs think (even
Game Freak has realized that it's overpowered, as it's banned in
the Battle Tower/Frontier).
Rating: 5/5
Peace Out,
Brown Bomber
Pojo Clown Master
Mewtwo -- the original Über. If you ask someone the name of a
legendary Pokemon, you can almost guarentee that they'll name
this guy. As for gameplay, his high SAtk, speed, and decent
other stats make him formidable in the Über Metagame, and
illegal in standard and lower.
Pros: he's one of the hardest hitting Pokemon in the game. He's
got a very respectable movepool, being able to hit almost any
type, regardless of his moveset. Everyone loves a Pokemon that
can Calm Mind, BoltBeam, Psychic, and still take a Physical hit.
Cons: Not the best, nor the most used Uber. He's an Uber. n00bs
at Pokemon Rocks America. Zangoose pwns him.
Ratings:
Uber: 3/5
Standard: Illegal, but it would be a 4/5.
UU: lol.. 5/5
etc.: Don't make me laugh. 8/5
Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re
reviewing one of the most powerful Pokémon ever; Mewtwo.
Back in the game boy days, Mewtwo used to be invincible. Today
it is a little more vulnerable, but not because it is weaker,
but because today amnesia only raises special defense. Anyway,
this Pokémon used to beat entire teams, and still can, but there
are some ways to stop it… Extremely good special attack and
speed only beaten by very few, Mewtwo the one Pokémon you should
fear…
Its ability is useful for long battles, but you won’t take much
advantage of it…
Now, for the move combination we have the special sweeper
standard, but with an extra attack called recover, just to have
fun a little longer ;)
Powerful, first get stronger with calm mind, then just sweep and
recover when necessary. If you don’t like calm mind or ice beam
you could change them for thunderbolt or even flamethrower.
When should I use this Pokémon?
I’d say always. But this one is banned on most tournaments and
friendly rivals won’t accept a challenge with this one. When you
can, use it…
What should I use against this Pokémon?
Tyranitar is your best shot. But if we’re talking about
legendaries, Kyogre will do great…
Bottom line:
Man, with this one is almost guarantee you’ll beat at least 2 or
3 Pokémon of a team…
