Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re
reviewing a very helpful Pokémon; Magneton.
Skarmory’s perfect nightmare. This one is absolutely necessary
if you want to beat the metallic bird. Nice special attack and
defense. So you will have a decent Special sweeper in Magneton.
It is not so fast, but will sweep a good number of turns.
Magneton has two abilities, but the truth is no one uses sturdy,
Magnet pull is the blessing on this Pokémon and we’re taking
advantage of that.
Now, we have the standard anti-Skarmory/Sweeper combination;
remember to use MAGNET PULL on this one:
Magneton.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, -Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 129 Defense, 129 Special attack, 129 Special defense.
- Thunderbolt
- HP fire
- Toxic
- Metal sound
This one is pretty simple. Thunderbolt will take out Skarmory in
one turn. HP fire is for some other steel Pokémon (but grass
might do OK against Swampert). Toxic and metal sound just for
some extra help. If you don’t like metal sound try something
like Substitute.
When should I use this Pokémon?
Skarmory again. Also good against not so fast water Pokémon.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
Probably another Magneton would be interesting. But without a
doubt your best choice is Dugtrio (remember the sand trap).
Maybe Steelix. It is week against Ground types so pick a fast
and strong one and you’ll be ok.
Bottom line:
Very useful as I said before, but it is also good in more
general situations.
