Hey welcome to the first pokémon of the week, I would do the
review but I just write the summary of the pokémon, My
favorite pokémon sceptile is to be reviewed today he's one
of the full grass pokémon with a high speed and can learn
move's like earthquake and aerial ace - very good if you
know what I mean.
Groudon's Pokedex observation.
In pokémon ruby and sapphire you can only get sceptile by
either choosing him from Prof. Birch or trading your
friends. a treeko evolve's at level 16 to grovyle and then
to sceptile at level 36.

Brown Bomber
Sceptile is an excellent, diverse Pokemon. It can annoy your
opponent with Leech Seed, act as a sweeper at low HP, and can
function as an excellent special sweeper.
Sceptile (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Spd / 224 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Leaf Blade
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Fire]/Thunderpunch
The standard, stalling Sceptile. Use Leech Seed to sap a
Pokemon's health, then keep making Substitutes while Sceptile
regains most of the health it lost with Leech Seed and
Leftovers. Continue making Substitutes until the opposing
Pokemon is weak enough to kill with an attack. If the opposing
Pokemon switches to get rid of Leech Seed, Sceptile can
Substitute on the switch and Leech Seed the Pokemon that
switches in safely. Since Sceptile has 120 base Speed, on par
with Dugtrio and Alakazam, it will probably create a Substitute
before the opposing Pokemon can attack. Leech Seed scares away
two of the most common counters to special sweepers, Blissey and
Snorlax, since their high HP means that Leech Seed will drain a
lot of HP. Hidden Power Ice is for Salamence while Hidden Power
Fire is for Skarmory that will get rid of Sceptile's Substitute
with Roar/Whirlwind.
Thunderpunch is an alternative if you can't get a specific
Hidden Power.
The EVs are based off of max IVs. You will have 372 Speed with
HP Ice
(31/30/30/31/31/31) and Thunderpunch, and 302 Special Attack.
289 HP is 1 more HP than a multiple of 16, allowing for maximum
Leftovers recovery and the ability to switch into four layers of
Spikes four times or take eight rounds of poison or burn damage.
Sceptile doesn't need a lot of HP, since it will regain more
health with Leech Seed with low HP.
Sceptile (M) @ Petaya Berry
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Spd / 224 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Endeavor
- Leaf Blade
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Fire]/Thunderpunch
The Endeavor Sceptile. Use Substitute until Sceptile is down to
1 HP, and have Petaya Berry activate. Endeavor takes Pokemon at
full health down to 1 HP when Sceptile is at 1 HP. Leaf Blade
has a massive base power when powered up by STAB, Overgrow, and
Petaya Berry, and gains critical hits often. This Pokemon is
owned by Pokemon with Quick Attack/Mach Punch, and Tyranitar's
Sand Stream kills it; however, these Pokemon are fading out of
play, so Endeavor Sceptile can wreak havoc on your opponent's
team.
The EVs are the same as above.
Sceptile (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Spd / 224 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Crunch/Focus Punch
- Thunderpunch
- Leaf Blade
- Hidden Power [Ice]/Hidden Power [Fire]
The old standard Sceptile used in 200 play. Sceptile has a
decent special movepool and a nice base 105 Special Attack to
swork with. Focus Punch allows you to damage Blissey, Snorlax,
or Regice when they switch in.
See above for the EVs.
Counters: Celebi, Ludicolo, and Venusaur aren't affected by
Leech Seed and can gradually ebb Sceptile's HP away. Dugtrio can
attack before Sceptile and hit it with Aerial Ace, while
Alakazam also ties with Sceptile and can hit it with Fire/Ice
Punch or can use Trick to give a Choice Band to Sceptile. After
a Dragon Dance, Gyarados can outspeed Sceptile and eliminate its
Substitute with Taunt while being able to withstand a
Thunderpunch.
Opinion: Sceptile is an incredibly annoying Pokemon to go up
against with varied, effective movesets, and is sure to catch
your opponent off guard. It can force switches with Leech Seed
and demolish weakened Pokemon. Sceptile is a high-tier Pokemon,
and can work even without immense support from the other members
of the team.
RSEFRLG rating: 4.0 (I disagree with a numbering system, but
whatever)
Peace out,

Summary:
I think Sceptile is a good pokemon because of it's high Speed
and Sp.Attack. It's an easy one to raise, too. It learns some
good attacks throughout it's life like LeafBlade and Absorb.
Ruby and sapphire 3.5
FR and LG 3.0
Emerald 4.0
