Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the Week. Today we’re
reviewing Garchomp, the mach Pokémon.
Garchomp is, hand down, one of the most popular Pokémon today,
being a dragon gives it the “coolness” needed and makes it a
really serious opponent. It has a tremendous attack (and learns
swords dance), very nice speed and decent HP. Having a dragon /
ground type combination is something new, but still 4x weak to
ice attacks, and ice punch and fang are becoming very popular
choices for physical sweepers.
Sand veil is a nice ability. So if you see a sandstorm team or
an early Tyranitar or Hippowdon on a match, expect this guy to
come out.
Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see what’s up with
this guy…
There are two different strategies with this one. If you are
good with strategies you will use swords dance, just take
Garchomp out if you are quite sure your opponent will switch.
That way you will use swords dance and sweep. If you find this
too complicated, then use crunch, it works quite good as well. I
like yache berry, but use life orb and substitute for something
quite original.
Same strategy; hit and run, but remember this one is not going
to be as fast as the choice scarfer, so be careful…
When should I use this Pokémon?
You are going to use this anyway, it is a very popular choice
today, but I don’t think it’s the best one. Latios or Salamence
are far more effective (just an opinion). So try it out, maybe
this is the dragon you were expecting.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
You have to use something that is going to resist Garchomp’s
great attack, a tank maybe. Or you can try using a faster
special sweeper like Kingdra (with rain dance). This is one
tough guy, but not unbeatable. Hidden power Ice is going to be
everywhere.
Bottom line:
Being a dragon, is almost a guarantee of power, easy to use even
for novice players.
Remember, if you have DP versions and want to trade or battle
with me. I already have a list of haves and wants here in the
Pojo Forums; the URL is
http://www.pojo.biz/board/showthread.php?t=442831 for
trading (have some good shinies and legendaries). If you want to
battle then send me a PM or send an e-mail to

Hope you enjoyed.

A new generation, a new Dragon.
This time it's an ugly one.
Sand Veil is only effective when you have started the attack
'Sandstorm' so
this is a must.
Nature to get the Atk. up which will be good.
Leftovers to make sure this stays out little longer.
Weakness ice and dragon, but that isn't anything to hold us of.
Immune
towards electricity is good.
Strategy time!!!!
First thing, USE Sandstorm. Evasion always good.
Then, if you know this is gonna be a long battle with many
different
pokemons from you both, use Stealth Rock.
Then just Earthquake/Dragon claw your enemies down
This is almost like the Sandslash I have built. We will see.
Still 1 ugly son of a *****!!!!!

Welcome, all, to another
edition of Pokemon of the Week. This week we get Garchomp, the
Land Shark:
So we have a natural born sweeper. High Atk/Spd, workable
defenses (albeit with a 4x weakness to Ice), and a pretty sweet
movepool. On to the movesets!!!
You might be wondering why I didn't suggest Fire Fang. Well,
it's because Fire Blast does more damage to Skarm, unless you do
a SD, then they even out. But you want the ability to kill Skarm
quick, so Fire Blast is the preferred choice. If you really want
to, though, you can put Fire Fang on.
Fire Blast for Skarm, or Crunch for... um... well, Fire Blast is
the better choice, as everything that is resistant to the other
3 attacks takes more damage from Fire Blast.
Final Thoughts: Garchomp is a force to be reckoned with. Be sure
to pack a fast Ice user that won't get OHKO'd by a CB'd Outrage.
Overall: 4/5
Looks: 5/5 (I guess I really like the looks of the new
Pokemon...)

Garchomp
With a high attack and speed stat, plus a wide range of
offensive sweeping moves, Garchomp is a force to be reckoned
with. One of the best none-legendary pokemon.
