(Diamond, Pearl)
Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the
Week. Today we’re reviewing Roserade, the Bouquet Pokémon.
Let’s face it, Roselia was pretty bad. When Budew
was announced I was thinking there had to be a reason powerful
enough to make a baby out of that thing. When Roserade was
revealed I knew it want’s going to be a great Pokémon, but it is
definitely a step forward. This is how new evolutions should be.
It has a decent special attack, speed and a now better move
pool. It definitely went from underused to useable.
Poison point is not a very cool ability because
Roserade is not going to handle many hits, its defenses aren’t
that great, so natural cure is our best option. It cures status
affections when you switch it, it is a huge advantage sometimes,
and saves a berry for you.
Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see
what’s up with this guy…
Roserade.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Choice scarf.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 129 Speed, 129 HP.
- Energy ball
- Sludge bomb
- Shadow ball
- HP electric, ice or fire
Hit and runner Roserade is fast, and it hits
hard. You already know the strategy. Keep hitting and then
switch.
Roserade.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Heat rock.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Solar beam
- Weather ball
- Synthesis / Substitute
- Sunny day
It is risky to use sunny day with Roserade
because of its weak defenses, but if you manage to do it,
Synthesis and solar beam will be strong moves. You can use
substitute if you are fast enough.
Roserade.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Black sludge.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Energy ball
- Sleep powder
- Shadow ball
- HP ice
Infict sleep condition and sweep. It is good
against Pokémon that are strong against you, supposing you are
faster and that sleep powder hits.
Roserade.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Big root.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP.
- Giga drain
- Substitute / Sludge bomb / HP fire
- Substitute / Sleep powder / Grasswhistle /
Toxic
- Leech seed
Focus on sucking as much HP as you can and then
sweep or maybe inflict sleep condition and sweep, kind of risky
but effective and annoying overall.
When should I use this Pokémon?
Unfortunately Roserade is not as powerful as we
wish. There are far better special sweepers and sunny day users.
And the sleep condition is a matter of luck that I don’t really
enjoy a lot. It is usable, but I don’t feel this Pokémon as I
should.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
Metagross will be instant switch or death for
this one (unless you inflict sleep condition). Faster effective
Pokémon as Weavile or Staraptor will take it out in a couple
hits as well.
Bottom line:
I’m about to start school on Monday, but don’t
worry as I’ll be bringing you more Pokémon and a couple
surprises for the next months. Thanks for reading…
