This one is for one of our readers; Jon Hopp. I’m working on
your mail bro, hang on some hours, I’ll have your request ready
this weekend. Meanwhile here is part of it with the review of
Walrein.
Walrein is a pretty tough Pokémon. It is the classical slow but
strong type with an interesting ice touch. Ibe bosy is a
fantastic ability if you are going to use hail or have Abomasnow
on your team.
The movesets for today are…
Curse set.
Walrein@Lum berry.
Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack), Brave (+ Attack, -
Speed).
EV’s: 252 Attack / 129 Defense / 129 Special defense.
- Curse
- Rest
- Avalanche
- Waterfall / Earthquake
Avalanche is a great move for this set as it will gain more
power thanks to curse. The last move is up to your needs. If you
don’t like rest I’d suggest Yawn to force a switch.
Sleep talker.
Walrein@Leftovers.
Nature: Bold (+ Defense, - Attack), Impish (+ Defense, - Special
attack).
EV’s: 252 HP / 252 Defense / 6 Special defense.
- Sleep talk
- Rest
- Avalanche
- Waterfall / Earthquake
I’m not really into this set but some have said it is good, so I
trust them. Having good defenses will give you time to attack,
rest and sleep talk. Repeat until you beat your opponent.
Walrein is also capable of using some other strategic moves as
substitute, toxic, protect and roar. Feel free to add them to
any moveset and use it whenever you feel like its necessary.
Forcing switches is a powerful move with high defense Pokémon as
Walrein.
Pros.
A hail team is awesome for this one. But if you are going to use
it individually then curse is your best bet. Rest is a cool move
not only to regain HP but to get rid of burn, poison or
paralysis status.
Counters.
A well trained Tyranitar with brick break and rock slide will
beat Walrein easily. Metagross will be another big counter. Be
aware of fighting and rock moves.
Bottom line.
Finally we finish this third Pokémon of this week. Next week
it’s all back on track, so take care and expect your mails to be
replied soon.
Rating:
2.3/5
Hope you enjoyed.
