Hi everyone. Welcome to our Pokémon of the Week.
Today we’re reviewing Giratina, the Renegade Pokémon.
Last Friday there was an update to the 11th
Pokémon movie revealing a new form of Giratina, called the
origin form. And here it is:

So today we’re reviewing Giratina as it will
become even more popular thanks to this. Giratina has sick
defenses and its type combination is just great. It is an
awesome sweeper capable of lasting a lot of turns if it’s not
stopped quickly, and a pretty good tank overall.
Pressure is the standard legendary ability. Not
so great, it consumes 2 PP per move used. It is cool when you
are facing other sweepers with just 5-8 PP.
Let’s move on to the move combinations, let’s see
what’s up with this guy…
Giratina.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Defense, 129 Special defense.
- Will-o-wisp
- Calm mind
- Dragon pulse / Eerie wind
- Substitute
This is tank Giratina. Use will-o-wisp /
substitute / calm mind in order to become untouchable. Then just
sweep. I prefer Dragon pulse over Eerie wind, but it’s your
choice.
Giratina.
Nature: Modest (+ Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 252 Special Attack, 6 Special
defense.
- Dragon pulse
- Shadow ball / Ominous wind
- Calm mind
- Substitute / Thunderwave / Will-o-wisp
Giratina is a pretty good special sweeper as
well. Use calm mind and sweep as much as you can. The last move
is up to you.
Giratina.
Nature: Adamant (+ Attack, - Special attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 252 Attack, 6 Defense.
- Shadow claw
- Dragon claw
- Stone edge
- Substitute / Thunderwave
This is the physical sweeper. It is not as good
as the special sweeper but it is not very predictable so you’ll
have the surprise factor with you.
Giratina.
Nature: Careful (+ Special defense, - Special
attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Attack, 129 Special defense.
- Shadow force
- Dragon claw
- Roar
- Will-o-wisp
It is almost impossible to defeat this thing.
Shadow force and dragon claw are there to take some HP. Roar and
will-o-wisp will give you as mush time as you want. Excellent
set to use Pressure.
Giratina.
Nature: Careful (+ Special defense, - Special
attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Special ttack, 129 Special
defense.
- Shadow ball
- Calm mind
- Roar
- Heal block
If you want to
beat Mewtwo, Deoxys or Lati@s this is your set. Calm mind raises
your special defense. Heal block is just awesome and roar just
in case they are raising their stats. Just sweep with shadow
ball and the game is yours.
When should I use this Pokémon?
A legendary Pokémon is usually used to sweep.
Giratina is a new twist that lets us not just sweep but burn
(poison is a good option too as it learns toxic), raise our
attack and defenses and survive almost anything. It is pretty
hard to defeat Giratina, so use it whenever you have the chance.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
It’s hard to say. If you are facing Giratina
probably you will use another legendary Pokémon to face it.
Rayquaza is a good option but you will have to hit as hard as
you can, so equip Choice band to it. Inducing sleep or paralysis
condition gives you some time if you want to raise stats with
other good options, Salamence being one. Try to hit with
physical super effective attacks as special attacks won’t be
very effective.
Bottom line:
