Hi everyone. Welcome to out 100th Pokémon of the
Week. Finally we’re reviewing the most voted Pokémon, it won by
few votes, but we have a winner now and it’s Espeon, the sun
Pokémon.
It’s been over a year since we last reviewed this
Pokémon and not much has changed, Espeon has very good special
attack as you can see (I added base stats to its general data),
decent special defense and speed, unfortunately it has low
defense and HP, it’s special move; morning sun, is an
interesting twist if you’re using a sunny day strategy. It is
also good as a baton passer.
Synchronize is also a pretty good ability, if you
get poisoned, paralyzed or burned, your opponent too. It’s very
simple and effective. If your opponent forgets Espeon’s ability
it is capable of breaking entire strategies.
So, the move combinations for today are…
Espeon.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Petaya berry.
EV´s: 252 Speed, 252 Special attack, 6 Defense.
- Calm mind
- Psychic
- Morning sun
- HP fire
Heal and use calm mind. Works better if sunny day
is on, so you want to use this one when using sunny day
strategy. Great set for double battles.
Espeon.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 Speed, 129 Defense, 129 Special
defense.
- Calm mind
- Baton pass
- Morning sun
- Psychic
This is a more defensive set, focused on baton
passing some special attack and special defense. It is also
capable of healing itself for multiple uses.
Espeon.
Nature: Timid (+ Speed, - Attack), Modest (+
Special attack, - Attack).
Equip: Salac berry.
EV´s: 252 Special attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP.
- Calm mind
- Shadow ball
- Grass knot / HP ice / HP fighting
- Psychic
If you don’t want to use morning sun this is your
direct special sweeper. Grass knot is awesome, but you are free
to choose HP according to your needs. I’d say this is the
standard set for competitive play.
When should I use this Pokémon?
You voted for it, so I’d say you like it a lot
(just as me). It may not be as used as Alakazam, but it is still
a good special sweeper and a fantastic baton passer. Definitely
a good choice for your 100th Pokémon of the week.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
Gengar is a pretty good option. Mean look Umbreon
will defeat it for sure. Fast or boosted physical sweepers as
Tyranitar or Garchomp will also be good counters.
Bottom line:
This way our 100th Pokémon of the week
has been reviewed. I want to thank Pojosama for letting me
contribute every week. Thanks to all of you for your e-mails
with feedback, questions, suggestions and congratulations. Thank
you very much for reading every week because this is all thanks
to you, and as long as there are Pokémon to review, I’ll be glad
to do it the best I can. Keep sending your feedback. It is
always analyzed and considered. I’m already thinking about some
changes for our section. Thanks again.
