Hi everyone. Welcome to another Pokémon of the
Week. Today we’re reviewing Probopass, the compass Pokémon.
This Pokémon was a suggestion from our reader
Rick, who told me it was a good idea to review Probopass. I took
my time because I have to admit I had to train a couple of these
to fully understand how it works. Now after a couple months
later (sorry Rick) I have finally battle with and against
Probopass and I can give you a more accurate review. As you can
see it is all about defenses. It is the classic slow and
defensive rock type but with a nice steel addition thanks to
evolution.
Sturdy ability might be good against some very
specific and uncommon strategies so it is not the best ability
ever. Magnet pull is better; at least you trap steel Pokémon
with you, messing with some strategies. I’ll say more about
trapping with this Pokémon later.
So, the move combinations for today are…
Probopass.
Nature: Impish (+ Defense, - Special attack),
Careful (+Special defense, - Special attack).
Equip: Leftovers.
EV´s: 252 HP, 129 Attack, 129 Defense.
- Toxic
- Protect
- Magnet rise
- Explosion
Use magnet rise if necessary (almost always, you
want to be protected against earthquake from a faster Pokémon),
then toxic and then protect. Let time pass as your opponent
dies/switches and repeat. Explosion is a nice finisher, but
maybe a little predictable.
Probopass.
Nature: Impish (+ Defense, - Special attack),
Careful (+Special defense, - Special attack).
Equip: Leftovers, Bright powder, Sandy rock,
Focus band.
EV´s: 252 Defense, 252 Special defense, 4 HP.
- Iron defense / Gravity / Thunderwave
- Toxic / Sandstorm
- Block
- Double team / Rest
Use block and sandstorm / toxic. Gravity is for
flying types. Double team will make you almost unbeatable but
rest is a decent move as well. This one is excellent as a
supporter in doubles.
When should I use this Pokémon?
It is good against choice band / scarf users as
it will stand even pretty strong and boosted moves. Probopass is
good stopping sweepers and giving you some time to rearrange
your strategies.
What should I use against this Pokémon?
Earthquake is your worst nightmare and
unfortunately is it often used in competitive gameplay. Be
careful of close combat as well. It causes massive damage.
Bottom line:
Our new structure is almost done. I’ll add some
cool stuff to hopefully have better and more complete reviews.
They are coming soon, I promise…
Rating:
2.7/5
Hope you enjoyed.
Reeve.
