of July folks! I hope you are having a nice summer time as you
read this one. This week we’ll review Scyther because I wanted
to prove that a not fully evolved Pokémon is still a decent one.
It is underused yeah, but it is capable of doing great things,
and I want to show that today. It has good speed and attack
stats and it’s even capable of raising them. Scyther is not
inferior to Scizor, let’s discover that…
The
movesets for today are…
Physical Sweeper.
Scyther@Salac Berry.
Nature: Adamant (+Attack, - Special attack).
EV’s: 252 Speed / 252 Attack / 6 HP.
- X-Scissor
- Aerial ace
- Return / Swords dance
- Night slash / Swords dance
Use
technician with this one. The first two attacks are good damage.
Swords dance is a good move if you can predict switches or
manage to get that extra turn, so if you are an experienced
trainer try swords dance, if you don’t like the risk then sweep
as hard as you can.
Endure user.
Scyther@Salac Berry / Lum berry.
Nature: Adamant (+Attack, - Special attack).
EV’s: 252 Speed / 252 Attack / 6 HP.
- X-Scissor
- Aerial ace
- Endure
- Reversal
Attack
as much as you can, then use endure and reversal. Use swarm
ability with this set.
Choice bander.

band.
Nature: Adamant (+Attack, - Special attack).
EV’s: 252 Speed / 252 Attack / 6 HP.

- Aerial ace
- HP rock
- Steel wing / Quick attack
Hit and
run. Simple and effective choice bander, it is important to
switch and watch out for faster Pokémon, as Scyther’s defenses
are not the best.
Pros.
As I
said, it is not very common to see this one on a competitive
environment, but it is always great playing casually.
Counters.
High
defense rock types as Rhyperior and Armaldo are good. Fast
flying types will do massive damage (Hello Staraptor) and most
fire types will be effective as well.
Bottom line.
