This was going to be Mathmech’s other Xyz, but Konami threw us a bone and gave us this card in Mystic Fighters considering it was an OCG Jump Promo, so we can now welcome Primathmech Alembertian to the TCG.

Alembertian is a Rank 4 EARTH Cyberse Xyz with 2000 ATK and 0 DEF. A fine ATK stat on a Rank 4, even though it lacks DEF, but makes up for it with an ok attribute and good type. Its summoning requirements are any 2+ Level 4 monsters, which is nice you can invest more into it if you wish, though Mathmechs will probably never summon this with more than 2 monsters. First off it lets you tribute a monster to Special Summon a Level 4 Mathmech from the hand or graveyard, which is good to get the monster on board after you use this card’s other effect and you can get this card out of the Extra Monster Zone to give room for your Synchros since we are still under the regular Master Rule 4, but later on we can just put this in a Main Monster Zone. When it is Xyz Summoned, you can gain an effect by detaching 2, 3, or 4 Xyz Materials from it. 2 materials searches for any Mathmech card, which means Mathmechs will probably only need to invest 2 materials into this considering the other effects are more generic, but waste more resources if you’d just end up searching for a Mathmech card anyways. You can get Nabla with this and then tribute this to summon the Nabla and hopefully you can get another monster on the field to tribute for Nabla to get to Multiplication. Detaching 3 materials lets you search for any Level 4 monster out of your Deck, which does sound insane on paper since Level 4 is the most popular Level, but it’d really depend on if you can make use out of what you searched immediately. TCG still has Cannon Soldier, which really didn’t need a way to be searched anymore than it already could, so this could open up an FTK, though it does take resources. Detaching 4 materials searches for any Spell or Trap card in the game, which again sounds insane on paper, but you’d really have to get good value out of what you searched because you used 4 monsters to get that effect and risked getting hit with a hand trap or something to negate this. Alembertian does have potential with the effects to detach 3 or 4 materials since the pool it can search for is very large, even at the cost of being a prime target for an Ash Blossom, but Mathmechs would love this card still since it can get to Nabla and help get the Mathmech shenanigans going.

Advanced Rating: 4.25/5

Art: 3.5/5 There’s a lot going on here, and while it isn’t bad, it probably could be better.

Midweek brings us to an XYZ Monster with a fairly mouthed full named in Primathmech Alembertian.  This is an Earth, Cyberese, Rank 4 XYZ Monster, with 2000 attack and 0 defense.  2000 attack isn’t great, but isn’t terrible on a Rank 4, and the 0 defense is almost never a good thing unless it’s effect dependent on the card itself or something bizarre like that.  Any 2+ Level 4 Monsters are required here for XYZ Summoning.

Tributing a Monster (any Monster, not a Cyberese or Mathmech) lets you Special Summon a Mathmech from your Hand or Graveyard.  This is wonderful.  Giving up any Monster to get a specific theme one from two out of three possible places is excellent.  Then, on top of that, we have three separate effects depending on the amount of XYZ Material you choose to discard:

2:  Fetch ANY Mathmech card from your Deck to your Hand.  Instant access to any theme card, even at the cost of two material is a great thing.  Nothing not to like about that.

3:  Add a Level 4 Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  This is good too, but straight up, there are easier ways to fetch Monsters from your Deck that aren’t this costly.  But it’s nice here too that it’s ANY, as opposed to Cyberese and/or theme specific.

4:  Add one Magic/Trap card from your Deck to your Hand.  Like the prior effect for discarding 3 Material, this IS good, but that’s a hell of a cost, and there’s also easier less costly ways to go about this too.

He’s not the strongest, and has a wide array of effects.  Honestly I feel the first non detaching effect here is the best one.  The first discard material effect I feel is best, but put in what you want, and reuse that effect, or go for it all and do what the situation calls for.  The options here are vast.

Art:  4/5  Much like Monday, I don’t really dislike what I’m seeing, but I’d like more color in it.
