When this card is activated: You can add 1 “Scareclaw” monster or “Visas Starfrost” from your Deck to your hand. Monsters your opponent controls lose 100 ATK/DEF for each Defense Position monster on the field. If 3 or more Defense Position monsters are on the field: You can target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. You can only use this effect of “Primitive Planet Reichphobia” once per turn. You can only activate 1 “Primitive Planet Reichphobia” per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Primitive Planet Reichphobia is your archetype Field Spell, which we knew was coming because every archetype gets one nowadays…this week has been a lot of “should be automatic in archetype” cards this week.

RoTA for the archetype upon activation, including Visas Starfrost. With Reichheart already being a Warrior I would’ve liked seeing this card be a “once per turn” search for the archetype, considering the rest are Beast Level 3 monsters with 0ATK. The 100 ATK/DEF drop per Defense Position monsters you have on the field is useless, should’ve been higher because you will be consolidating into your Link 3, meaning at most you’ll have two monsters in defense. If you have three or more though, you get a free destruction each turn, and I guess that’s the logic behind not making the other effects better? The pop is good, don’t get me wrong, but you need three in defense at the very least, and without easier ways to add/search, how often are you going to be able to use this effect? You can’t activate another copy of Rejchphobia in the same turn, so no double or even triple search & pop.

Unless I’m missing something with the archetype, I think this card should’ve been better. Not a once per turn on activation, a once per turn on the search, and boost the ATK/DEF drop, maybe even change it to “select one Defense Position “Scareclaw” monster you control and one opponent’s face-up monster: Switch the selected monster’s ATK with each other” would’ve added a bit more offense to the archetype.

Despite my gripes, it does search, does give you a pop if you have your three or more in defense, so it is a good card. If they didn’t want to do everything I said above, they could’ve gotten away with tacking on a negation, even if it was an only once negation.

Next we got the archetypal Field Spell for the archetype and the world of the Scareclaws: Primitive Planet Reichphobia.

Reichphobia is a Field Spell that on activation lets you add any Scareclaw monster or Visas Starfrost from Deck to hand, which seems like a standard Field Spell effect nowadays. This does mean you can only activate 1 of this a turn, so no searching too much. You at least can access whatever Scareclaw you need in a given moment. Second effect makes monsters the opponent controls lose 100 ATK and DEF for each Defense Position monster on the field, so you might get a little bit of a decent debuff if you got the Link on the board to force everything into Defense. Finally, if there are 3 or more Defense Position monsters on the field, you can target a card the opponent controls and destroy it, so easy removal. You should be able to load the board with enough Defense Position monsters to get this off, whether it’s your monsters or the opponent’s. Hard once per turn on that effect as well, which is fine. Reichphobia is a pretty fine Field Spell for the archetype. It isn’t insane, but soon we get a Link-1 to search it, and it gives the archetype consistency.

Primitive Planet Reichphobia is a Field Magic for the Theme, one with entirely too much text, given what little this card actually does.  You get a Theme Monster or Vista Starfrost from your Deck to your Hand.  That’s still a card to your Hand for free, but we like those cards to come from the Deck and hit the Field.  That’s only on activation, and naturally, as a result, you can only activate one of these a Turn.  100 def/atk loss to your opponent’s Monsters per Defense position Monster on the Field.  That’s just stupid.  The Effect is too low in reduction, even 200 would’ve been more worthwhile, and it still wouldn’t have been anything near broken.  3 or more Defense Monsters on the Field grants you the ability to (Once per Turn) Target a card under your opponent’s control and destroy it.  Unlimited as to what card(s) is fantastic, Targeting, common as that is, is not so good.  We haven’t come across anything BAD this week, yet, but none of these cards quite hit the mark yet, either.

Despite not having Scareclaw in the name, it’s still a Scareclaw card through and through; Primitive Planet Reichophobia is a Field Spell that can only be activated once per turn and has a hard once per turn effect as well. After activation, you can search any Scareclaw monster or Visas Starfrost. You probably won’t be searching Visas, but grabbing Scareclaw Reichheart is always the best option unless you have it already, in which case the second best is probably Scareclaw Belone to counteract their boss’s gimmick. While it’s on the field, your opponent’s monsters will lose 100 attack and defense for each Defense position monster, which can add up fast but I wouldn’t expect a drop of more than 500 in regular play. The hard once per turn effect allows you to target and destroy one of your opponent’s cards as long as there are 3 or more Defense position monsters on the field. While this won’t come up very often on turn 1, it can get you out of a jam later in the game as you start to amass resources. Neat effects, but the main reason to run this card is as a ROTA to get to Reichheart, so no reason not to run 3 and throw in Terraforming for extra measure.

Art: 3/5 Nothing particularly spectacular visually, though there’s a theory that the Visas Starfrost lore is loosely based on Kingdom Hearts, with Reichophobia being a stand-in for The Lion King.

As with most modern day Field Spells, Primitive Planet Reichphobia is the Scareclaw’s ROTA. This searches the entirety of the Scareclaw Monster line up (including Viasa Starfrost, for lore reasons). Unfortunately, this card doesn’t have “Scareclaw” in its name, so it can’t, in turn, be searched for using Reichheart. Still, it’s not like we don’t have ways of fetching Field Spells (Terraforming, Metaverse, and even Set Rotation).

Besides that, the Field Spell ties into the Scareclaw theme of putting monsters in DEF mode (reminding me a bit of a much improved Spider archetype). For each DEF mode monster on the Field, your opponent’s monsters are going to lose 100 ATK and DEF. It doesn’t seem like much, but this can mean the difference between winning and losing a battle.

The last effect is a hard once per Turn: As long as there are at least 3 DEF mode monsters on the Field, you can target and opponent’s card and Destroy it. This effect isn’t Quick, it Targets, and it Destroys – the trifecta of the weakest form of removal in modern YuGiOh. Even though this effect isn’t impressive, it can still put in some work, seeing as how a free pop is a free pop.

I think this card is a good mix of a play maker and support card. I always prefer when Field Spells posses continuous effects that directly tie into the theme’s main mechanic. This one does that well enough while still having the search ability to make sure people will want to play it in triplicate.
