Purrelyly – #CYAC-EN018

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Purrely” card from your Deck to your hand, except a Quick-Play Spell. You can target 1 “Purrely” Quick-Play Spell in your GY; Special Summon 1 Xyz Monster from your Extra Deck that mentions that card, by using this card you control as material, and if you do, attach that Spell to the Summoned monster. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon.) You can only use each effect of “Purrelyly” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Purrelyly begins our week on Pojo, and adds to the Purrely archetype that is gaining momentum in the current meta.

The DARK version of the original Purrely, Purrelyly is a searcher for the archetype, however, you won’t be searching any of the Quick-Play Spells the archetype runs. This works in conjunction with the Purrely LIGHT monster that digs for your Quick-Play Spells. Purrelyly will search your other Purrely monster (the only other monster), your Field Spell, your Continuous Spell, and your trap card in the Deck. Both Purrely monsters have their specific jobs to do for the strategy, both can be summoned via One for One, and both get their effects whether Normal or Special Summoned.

Purrelyly mimics the Special Summon ability of Purrely, by targeting a Quick-Play in your grave versus revealing in your hand. Both these little ones are your Rank 2 summoners. Target any Purrely Quick-Play Spell in your grave and Special Summon whichever Purrely Rank 2 mentions that card. Purrelyly will attach itself and that specific card to the Rank 2, bringing that Quick-Play card’s effect while attached online, as well as that Rank 2’s extra ability it gains from having that specific Quick-Play Spell attached. All Purrely Quick-Play Spells give effects while attached, and all the Rank 2’s can attach up to three times per turn, meaning your materials are going to add up in an effort to rank climb into your bigger Purrely Xyz Monsters.

Purrelyly does what Purrely doesn’t: search directly instead of milling. They both compliment each other and work to rank climb into their bigger forms. If you need a specific card that isn’t a Quick-Play, this is your card. If you need a specific Rank 2 Purrely and have that Quick-Play in your grave, this is your card.

We look at some archetype support this week and we got a 2nd name for the Purrely archetype in the Main Deck they needed: Purrelyly.

Purrelyly is a Level 1 DARK Fairy with 100 ATK and DEF. Standard low stats for a Level 1 and a nice combination of DARK/Fairy. The first effect triggers on Normal or Special Summon, letting you add a Purrely card from your Deck to your hand, besides any of the Quick-Play Spells. It’s another way to get to base Purrely or another copy of Purrelyly if you need a monster. You also got Stray Purrely Street and My Friend, Purrely for your Spell options and both Purrelyeap!? and Purrely Sharely!? for your Trap options. It stings to not search for Quick-Play Spells when you’re stuck with only 1 Purrely Delicious Memory now, leaving you to luck off the effects of Purrely or My Friend, Purrely now if you want to try and summon Epurrely Plump to go into Expurrely Noir. The second effect lets you target a Purrely Quick-Play Spell in your graveyard to Xyz Summon a Purrely Xyz that mentions the targeted card in its text by using this monster and the targeted card in grave as material basically. More ways to summon the Purrely Xyzs and it makes use of the ones that go to grave to summon your Purrely monsters or that are detached off the Rank 7s. Hard once per turn on each effect, which is a letdown when you consider Purrely didn’t have any once per turn clauses on it at all besides a soft one for the Xyz Summon. With that said, Purrelyly gives the Purrely archetype another name to be more consistent in summoning the Xyzs. Purrely still remains a good archetype even with Delicious Memory at 1, and this is a key card for the Deck at 2-3 copies.

This week continues our coverage of Cyberstorm Access with archetypal one-off support; Purrelyly kicks off the week, a level 1 DARK Fairy monster, and currently the second main deck monster in the Purrely archetype. Much like the original Purrely, you can access it with One for One and the Purrely Quick Play Spells, so getting to it isn’t particularly difficult. Naturally, it has a horrendous 100 attack and defense, which is to be expected for a level 1 monster, no?

Purrelyly has two hard once per turn effects, mirroring the original Purrely in both ways as well. If it’s Normal or Special Summoned, you can search any non-Quick Play Purrely card; being unable to search the newly limited Purrely Delicious Memory is a bummer, but that’s why it’s so important that it can search Purrelyeap?!, which will be one of their main ways to get into Expurrely Noir going forward. Otherwise, if you already have Purrelyeap, you can always search My Friend Purrely for a chance to get Delicious Memory, or at least Purrely Pretty Memory so you’re not totally dead in the water. Purrelyly’s other effect lets you Xyz Summon a Purrely Xyz monster using Purrelyly and an appropriate Purrely Quick Play Spell in your Graveyard. Like before, you’ll want to go for Epurrely Plump through Purrely Delicious Memory if possible, but after the banlist, you might have to make Epurrely Beauty instead and rely on Purrelyeap?! to rank up into Noir. Purrelyly is an excellent playmaker, even moreso than the original, but unfortunately it might not be enough with Purrely’s strongest Quick Plays limited. We shall see if their new card in Duelist Nexus can give them a much-needed second wind.
