Most Lotuses in Magic do exactly what we’ve been trained to expect, but this version has a little twist. What’s the only thing better than a Lotus? Lots of them, and there’s usually no way to get that, so people are going to be playing this card just for that reason. The unfortunate thing is that at six mana, you’re probably going to need something like Treasures to get it into play expediently – but Treasures are also one of the best things to have in play when you cast Radiant Lotus. Still, the payoff is spectacular and well worth the effort, and it’s worth remembering that trinket artifacts have been a semi-recurring theme ever since Modern Horizons 2 and its ever-enticing Fae Offering and Academy Manufactor.

Any card with “Lotus” in its name will turn heads, and Radiant Lotus doesn’t disappoint, turning any spare artifacts into a raging inferno of mana. Unlike a Gilded Lotus, this can immediately pay off the investment with a surfeit of Food, Treasure, Clues, or Blood, and untapping with one seems like a disaster waiting to happen. While six mana does make this quite the tall order, and this won’t win the game alone, it can be a massive accelerant that lets you push a game out of reach in a trice. It can even sacrifice itself in a pinch, and while that might not be ideal, sometimes turning it into the last extra bit of mana you need is more than a fair price.
