Pokemon VS. Yu-Gi-Oh: The UNBIASED Story 1. There isn't enough room in this country for another Japanese TCG. - It's the truth. Honestly, look. DBZ, Digimon, and Sailor Moon all failed. (Some will argue, but you don't hear about them much anymore.) What makes you think Yu-Gi-Oh is any different? Many of us, the Pokemon players who tried it, think the game doesn't have much to write home about in the first place. 2. Nothing is horribly wrong with Pokemon. - I see people's points with the 15+ issue, but otherwise, it's insane to quit Pokemon for Yu-Gi-Oh. There aren't any tournaments for Yu-Gi-Oh! There aren't any trips! There aren't any World Events! Why in the world would you quit Pokemon? 3. It isn't made by Wizards. - This is one of the reasons the other Japanese card games failed. Wizards has the DCI, which is an intricate rating system. Upper Deck simply doesn't. Once again, what's the point of playing a card game when it's not competitive? 4. The game is not the greatest. - There's about one good deck. And if you're poor, you can't win. Not too good. Yes, I know there are hopes for a better set coming out... but a TCG does NOT survive without a great beginning set. These should be reasons enough. I don't EVER totally dis a card game, however, I can't help it with this one. Magic is a great game. Pokemon is a great game. Even the other Wizards games are good. However, if a card game isn't made by Wizards, it won't have much tournament support. That's not the coolest. =/ According to CODITH's article, which can be found on the Yu-Gi-Oh site here on pojo.com, Pokemon was a fad. Yes... that's obvious. However, he kept comparing the two in Japan. This is the USA... not Japan. For example, a Sushi decontaminator (lol...) would sell huge in Japan. I doubt it would sell very well here. It's the same thing with card games. I could be wrong, just like the Magic players (of which I was one) were when they said Pokemon would die. And if I am, CODITH and the rest of them will have the last laugh. However, my prediction is that the Yu-Gi-Oh fad will be over by the end of the year. Oh, before I close out, another thing he mentioned was that Pokemon prices have fallen. Yes, I agree they have. But it isn't JUST Pokemon. If you look on ebay, many of the other Card Series (including regular Baseball cards) have lost price. That's due to the current recession more than it is due to a "lack of popularity". You cannot tell me that baseball cards are losing popularity. Baseball cards are a classic. `¬_¬ To the Yu-Gi-Oh players: Come back to Pokemon. -_- To the Pokemon players: Keep playing =D Peace, ~ RaNd0m rand0m_for_life@hotmail.com (ENOUGH VIRUSES >_<)
