Hello Pojo Fans,

Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force is our Throwback Thursday choice this week and one of the many Rank-Up Spells that can help Gimmick Puppets.

Needing a Rank 5 or higher Xyz Monster on your field shouldn’t be too hard, I don’t think I’ve seen any Rank 5 CXyz monsters played in any deck aside from Silent Honor ARK’s Chaos form that’s involved in a FTK, but I digress. Special Summon a Number C or CXyz monster that is one Rank higher than the one you targeted and transfer materials to it: Standard effect for a Rank-Up Spell. Is it better than other Rank-Up Spells throughout the game? The Phantom Knights Rank-Up-Magic Launch attaches itself as well to the monster it targets, though that monster has to have no materials attached to it. Machinix yesterday is the perfect target for that Rank-Up Spell, as it can search out the Spell and another one from the Deck, using all materials only to supply its Chaos form with two materials soon after. In terms of Rank-Up Spells that summon CXyz monsters, this card is probably second best to the Phantom Knights one because that Rank-Up Spell is a Quick-Play.

Unlike the Phantom Knight’s Rank-Up Spell though, Argent Chaos Force can return itself to the hand when you summon a Rank 5 or higher Xyz Monster. It doesn’t have to be an Xyz Summon, and with the ease Gimmick Puppets can do either, this Spell will return to the hand to be activated again, maybe in the same turn. This effect is once per Duel, however, Machinix can retrieve it to the hand as well.

Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force does not hold you back as some Rank-Up Spells do, or require you to play Raidraptors in your Extra Deck. Both this card and the Phantom Knight Rank-Up Spell are great choices to be searched and summon your Chaos forms. None of the restrictions on Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force are going to hold back a Gimmick Puppet player and you are likely to get two Chaos forms in the same turn with it, if not more if you mix in Machinix.

Throwback Thursday this week brings us to the best Rank-Up-Magic to use in Gimmick Puppets without question: Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force.

Argent Chaos Force is a Normal Spell that does the standard Rank-Up stuff initially, though this has to target a Rank 5 or higher specifically to summon a Number C or CXyz with that’s 1 Rank higher. Fine stuff. Weird this lets you summon CXyzs actually considering the users of this card in the anime all used this to target Numbers. Either way, this is of coruse treated as an Xyz Summon and you transfer materials, standard stuff. When a Rank 5 or higher monster is Special Summoned to your field while this is in the graveyard, you can add this back to your hand, giving you another chance to use your Rank-Up-Magic. Always appreciate it when cards recover themselves, though this only does it once per Duel on its own, otherwise it’d probably be broken. It was banned at a time, being the best Rank-Up-Magic to summon Utopic ZEXAL with via its other method, but now Utopic ZEXAL is gone and this is at 3. You don’t need 3 in Gimmick Puppets since it’s searchable, but running 2 is fine since the Rank-Up isn’t a HOPT and you want one in the Deck to trigger Fanatsix Machinix with.

We already went over why this card is great with the new Gimmick Puppet cards, but here it is again for Throwback Thursday! Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force is a Normal Spell, searchable with the myriad of Barian/Utopia/Number support cards– but most relevantly, Gimmick Puppet Fantasix Machinix. Of course, there’s another way to access it that ended up getting it banned once upon a time that we’ll get to. Argent Chaos Force’s first effect isn’t once per turn, targeting a Rank 5 or higher Xyz monster you control to Xyz Summon a Number or CXyz monster that’s one Rank higher on top of it as material, naturally taking its materials as well. In Gimmick Puppet, this is your main way to get to your boss monster, and frankly is the simplest and most straightforward way to get to many CXyz monsters as well in dedicated Barian decks. The killer effect is its second effect, a once per duel effect that triggers if any Rank 5 or higher Xyz monster is summoned to your field while it’s in your Graveyard, recycling itself back to your hand. This doesn’t sound very offensive today, and it really isn’t, but in ancient times, you could send it to the Graveyard with the now-banned Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal (noticing a pattern?), rank up Beatrice into Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger, then immediately recycle it. Gaia Dragon doesn’t actually make anything, but the decks that could really abuse Argent Chaos Force (like Pendulum Magician) could field the bodies for a Utopia monster. With Argent Chaos Force as discard fodder, you could rank up a Utopia into the infamous Number S0: Utopic ZEXAL and shut down all of your opponent’s effects. Since Beatrice and S0 are both banned, the danger of Argent Chaos Force has mostly passed, and with Gimmick Puppet taking a huge hit with the banlist, we probably won’t have to worry about it being banned again any time soon. Which is great news for Barian fans!

+Can potentially rank up Xyz monsters 3 times in one turn
+Unique self-recycle gives creative ways to access it outside of Number-related decks
-Limited to summoning Number and CXyz monsters
-Many of the cards it enables or are enabled by it are banned
