Hello Pojo Fans,
Ra’s Disciple is our fitting Throwback Thursday choice this week, considering it can only be used with the Egyptian God monsters.
Summon Ra’s Disciple in any fashion and get up to two more of them from the hand or deck to the field. Good effect as long as you don’t already have a copy or both banished or in the graveyard. Once you got that going for you, you can tribute any or all of the Ra’s Disciple monster(s) for any of the three Egyptian God monsters. You don’t want Ra’s Disciple to stay on the field because it locks you into only Special Summoning other Ra’s Disciple monsters, not even an Egyptian God can be Special Summoned while this is on the field. Searchable with Witch and Sangan, and Special Summon it in conjunction with Shining Angel, Ra’s Disciple is an okay way of summoning one of your god cards…until Soul Crossing came into play, then it became obsolete. You’ve gotta do your Special Summoning before Ra’s Disciple, which isn’t too hard but you don’t want to see it. Its restrictions help it from being used anywhere else, but the Special Summon restriction could probably be lifted. It would have been great if Ra’s Disciple had an effect even that allowed you to Special Summon through tribute of Ra’s Disciple the turn you Normal Summoned Ra’s Disciple. Instead, if you summon Ra’s Disciple like that you are locked down with him and his copies until next turn unless you play something like Double Summon or have an effect that allows for another Normal Summon.
An okay monster to use to facilitate the summon of one of your god monsters, but it could have done much more for the archetype. Tomorrows card does more.

Thowback Thursday this week gives us a card meant to provide all the tribute fodder for your Egyptian Gods, and seemed to be specifically designed with Ra in mind: Ra’s Disciple.
Ra’s Disciple is a Level 4 LIGHT Fairy with 1100 ATK and 600 DEF. Upon summon, you can summon up to 2 more copies of Ra’s Disciple from your hand and/or Deck. Basically giving you the three monsters needed to summon an Egyptian God. It’d be nice if you could get another Normal Summon to actually get the Gods out after you play this, but it won’t matter if you figure out how to Special Summon this card. This cannot be tributed, except to Tribute Summon the three Egytpian Gods and you cannot Special Summon while you control this monster, except with Ra’s Disciple. Basically drawbacks to prevent this from being used for what it was meant to do, which is understandable considering summoning this gets you 3 Level 4 monsters on field for whatever you’d want otherwise. It’s a card they ensured you’re forced to use with the God Cards, and it’s fine if you can keep all 3 alive to summon your God unless you have an additional or your regular Normal Summon for that turn still. Okay card.

I don’t believe we’ve done this before, and that’s always a treat for Throwback Thursday, and today is Ra’s Disciple. If you’re going to play a (or multiple) Gods, this isn’t a bad way to do it. When Summoned (no restriction as to how or from where) you can bring 2 more out from your Hand and/or Deck. Where is this going? It/they can’t be Tributed except for the Gods. You can’t Special Summon outside of his own Effect. There’s not much else to say. Ra already has the best and most support to bring itself out, but if your heart is set on one or both of the others, this helps. It would be more fun if it guaranteed the Summon of the God you bring out couldn’t be negated, but I guess that would be too much. It’s the best card of the week HANDS DOWN (not that that’s saying much).

Art: 5/5 The background on this is almost cosmic, but the pic of the disciple does a good job representing Ramesses (in my opinion).
