Hello Pojo Fans,

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon has been a powerhouse since its release and it has only gotten better with all the support that has come after.

Allure of Darkness target, Dragon-Type support target, easy to Special Summon, cost-free Special Summon effect from your grave or hand once per turn while on the field, high ATK/DEF, this card has everything. Now with the Guardragon archetype support you can Special Summon it with Elpy, use it for a Link Summon after using its effect, then bring it back with Pisty and use its effect again. This card gave dragon users a huge boost in playability for their decks and along side Dragon Rulers made them the most feared deck in the meta years ago. All you need is one dragon, and you can accomplish that nowadays with ease. Honestly the only thing this card doesn’t have going for it is that it wasn’t a Level 8 for Trade-In capabilities. It will likely hit the ban list because it finally has too much going for it with the Guardragons. Before they would keep it in because they could hit its support, leaving this card to help the multitude of builds it could be a part of, but now almost any deck that could access dragons can use it, and once Armiryle the Starguide Dragon hits the TCG everyone will have a generic Dragon-Type Link 2 to banish to Special Summon this. You could even Instant Fusion a Dragon-Type and banish for this, and it’s that ease of summoning, the Special Summon ability it has from hand or grave, and the fact that if you bring it back to the field you can use the effect again in the same turn that make REDMD amazing.

Generic Dragon support means a Throwback Thursday to Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon should of been somewhat obvious.

REDMD is a Level 10 DARK Dragon with 2800 ATK and 2400 DEF. I could of maybe wished for more stats on this, but it isn’t that hard to summon so these are amazing stats for that cause, DARK and Dragon also offer a lot. You can Special Summon REDMD from your hand by banishing a face-up Dragon monster you control, which is so insanely easy it isn’t funny. In return, you get a soft once per turn effect to summon any Dragon from your hand or graveyard with this effect, which is simply amazing considering how many strong Dragons are in this game. A properly summoned Dragon from the Extra Deck could most likely be revived from this, and there are a ton of good ones like Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon, Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss, Number 38, and so on. REDMD can also get strong Dragons out of the hand like maybe an Amorphage Golliath, or you can just summon any Dragon possible to extend your Guardragon plays. This card could even summon another REDMD if it wasn’t currently at one. There’s a reason REDMD is limited in the TCG and just recently banned in the OCG, and I expect TCG to ban it now we have Guardragons to help abuse this even more, the card is simply perfect for so many Dragon decks. Just imagine how different things would be if this card had its anime effect.

Ahh Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, how fun and fitting for a Throwback Thursday.  This card has had two prior reviews I found (kinda surprised, it feels like offhand it’s had more) but here are the links from 2010 and 2015, respectively:  The card did receive rather favorable reviews both times, which is good signs for a card, especially over the length between the reviews.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon is a hell of a card, that still stands the test of time in about any Dragon variant you’re going to play.  2800 attack, the incredible ease of being able to be brought out (via Special Summon) from your Hand just by removing a Dragon you control is awesome.  Oh, and there’s no once per turn on that, so if you hold three and control three Dragons, you could bring all 3 out in a single turn.

But, the ease in bringing him out is only one of the effects of ease to abuse.  You can swarm each turn with this card Special Summoning a Dragon (ANY Dragon, any type, any Level) from your Hand or Graveyard.  So you have two options available, it can also even Special Summon itself by that ability, and that’s appropriately a once per turn.  Both effects are fantastic, fast, and powerful.

Oh, and on top of all that (and the 2800 attack body) it’s Level 10, so there’s combo potential in that too, especially from the Extra Deck in case you’re running high Level Synchro or XYZ Monsters too.  This card sits at 1 currently in the TCG (and Banned at present in the OCG) for how unwieldy powerful it is, and I support that as well.  A Ban likely could be coming sooner than later, but time will tell.  Use and abuse in the now

Rating:  Can’t help but give a 5/5 for what it does, and it does what it does damn well

Art:  5/5  Lots of metal, and just as much darkness.  I’m not sure if that’s a volcanic eruption in the background, or maybe the aftermath of an attack from REDMD, but it’s really awesome.

Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon goes all over the ban list because it is awesome. Easy alternate Special Summoning condition and an effect that is not a hard once per turn. Instant advantage, good Atk and will probably be banned because of its abuse in Guardragon decks. Use it while you can.
