Rillaboom VMAX – Rebel Clash Pokemon Review

Aww, you haven’t got your special drum set yet, but I can imagine you can do other stuff for the time being.

Looking at Rillaboom V-Max’s attacks, it seems like it would need to have some support to optimize it’s potential. Scratch costs a single energy and does 50 damage, which is very good for the cost, but eventually you would need to do much more than that. Max Beating costs 4 energy (GGGC) for 130 damage, and if you decide to discard up to 3 Grass energies from this Pokémon, then you could do 180, 230, or 280 damage depending on how many Grass energies you’ve discarded. The discard cost may be hefty, but it could achieve certain KOs as opposed to saving those energies for something else.

If your plan was to try to hit for 280 damage every single turn, then you need certain cards like:

-Rillaboom’s Voltage Beat ability which lets you attach 2 Grass energies from your deck to 1 of your Pokémon, which means that you…

-…need to have methods to recover Grass Energies from your discard pile onto your deck such as Ordinary Rod in Standard which could recover 2 basic energy cards, or Expanded, Energy Recycler that can recover FIVE basic energy cards from the discard pile onto your deck.

Then maybe you might have a functional Rillaboom V-Max deck which needs that Rillaboom with that Voltage Beat ability. Granted, this may not be able to OHKO other V-Max Pokémon and that Sword/Shield era Metal types have Grass Resistance, but in any other situation it can OHKO almost all Tag Teams, all 2-prize GX Pokémon, EX Pokémon, and Basic Pokémon-V.
