Ritual Beast Ulti-Nochiudrago – #BLTR-EN018
1 “Ritual Beast Tamer” monster + 1 “Spiritual Beast” monster
Must be Special Summoned (from your Extra Deck) by banishing the above cards from your field and/or GY. You can only Special Summon “Ritual Beast Ulti-Nochiudrago(s)” once per turn. Your opponent cannot target other “Ritual Beast” monsters you control with card effects. (Quick Effect): You can return this card to the Extra Deck, then target 1 of your banished “Ritual Beast” monsters; Special Summon it, but it cannot attack directly.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Ritual Beast Ulti-Nochiudrago is the newest Fusion to the Ritual Beasts archetype and one that is easier to summon than the others.
Spiritual Beast and a Ritual Beast Tamer needed for the summon, unlike the other Fusion Monsters in the archetype, Ulti-Nochiudrago banishes from the grave or on the field whatever it needs for its summon. This makes it far easier to summon than the other Fusion Monsters in the archetype because it includes the graveyard as well. This works hand-in-hand with Spiritual Beast Tamer Lara (as seen on the card), using her as a material and activating her effect when banished to get you another body on the field to likely go into Cannahawk if you haven’t already done so. Once per turn on the summon is a good restriction, otherwise you may be dropping three of these because of how quickly your grave can get refilled with the requirements.
Once on the field, Ulti-Nochiudrago protects all other Ritual Beast monsters from targeting effects, but does not have any inherited protection for itself. In addition to being decent protection for other Ritual Beast monsters, Ulti-Nochiudrago is a big body on field and can tag itself out for a banished Ritual Beast, though that monster is barred from attacking directly. Not that much of a restriction, especially if you are using it to go for another Ritual/Spiritual Beast to make a different Fusion. Because you can only Special Summon any of the Ritual/Spiritual Beast monsters once per turn you’ll have to watch which ones you summon and Special Summon. If somehow one of your bigger Ritual Beast monsters was banished, this card can get it back to put another big body on board (even if it can’t attack directly).
It’s great to see another easily summoned Ritual Beast Fusion be released for the archetype to have some strong attackers. They needed to have some use of the graveyard that involved getting a bigger monster on the field and Ulti-Nochiudrago is that. Combined with Ulti-Gaiapelio you’d have two big Ritual Beasts on field: one with negation, one with targeting protection. Invest wisely and make sure you keep refueling your grave and field for these summons.

A new Fusion for Ritual Beasts felt fitting for new support, though it isn’t Ulti-Rampengu, instead we got Ritual Beast Ulti-Nochiudrago.
Nochiudrago is a Level 7 LIGHT Wyrm with 2400 ATK and 1900 DEF. Stats are fine considering how it’s summoned, LIGHT is nice, and Wyrm gives you another Type to add under There Can Be Only One. Fusion Materials are any Ritual Beast Tamer and any Spiritual Beast, just like every other Ritual Beast Fusion that isn’t named Ulti-Gaiapelio. Just like the other Ritual Beast Fusions, you don’t Fusion Summon this with Polymerization, instead having to banish the materials from the field and/or graveyard. Being a Ritual Beast Fusion that lets you banish the materials from the graveyard is super nice to move names from the graveyard to the banished pile. It’s good for banishing a Spiritual Beast Tamer Lara, which is great for either part of this card’s material since it fulfils both parts for what you might be missing. You can only Special Summon this once per turn, unlike the other Fusions in the archetype, mainly due to the fact it’s so much easier to summon. Your opponent cannot target Ritual Beast monsters you control with effects, giving your whole board of Ritual Beasts some targeting protection to ensure combo goes off and your endboard is safe. The final effect is a Quick Effect to return this to the Extra Deck to target and summon any of your banished Ritual Beasts, but it cannot attack directly. You can only get 1 monster off this, unlike the others giving you 2 monsters back, but you can at least summon banished Fusion or Link Monsters you previously summoned to get them back to your field and probably your Extra Deck as well. Nochiudrago feels like something that would have been nice for Ritual Beasts years ago. It’s a decent end board piece, as well as a combo extender due to the fact it banishes its Fusion Materials from grave to trigger effects or get monsters there to summon off the other Ritual Beast Fusions. 2 copies of this works for the Deck since it offers a ton of value just by having it.

Yang Zing makes a surprise reappearance as a new Ritual Beast Fusion monster, Ritual Beast Ulti-Nochiudrago, a level 7 LIGHT Wyrm Fusion monster. It’ll still take a Ritual Beast Tamer and Spiritual Beast monster to contact fuse, and we’ll get to that in a bit! Nochiudrago’s stats aren’t particularly amazing, with only 2400 attack and 1900 defense, so once again Ritual Beast Ulti-Gaiapelio will probably be doing the heavy lifting along with the deck’s new sub-boss monster.
As usual for a Ritual Beast Fusion, Nochiudrago must be Special Summoned by its own condition, Fusing by banishing its materials from the field or, unique to itself, from the Graveyard. This makes a huge difference in its accessibility, since you can use Spiritual Beast Tamer Lara as a material after discarding it. Nochiudrago can also only be Special Summoned once per turn, which makes sense because it has a non-once per turn Quick Effect to return itself to the Extra Deck and Special Summon a banished Ritual Beast, though that monster won’t be able to attack directly. This effect isn’t very relevant as a disruption, but it can help recycle banished Ritual Beasts you need, which is very handy considering the Ritual Beast Fusions themselves sadly are not valid Fusion materials. It’s also a cheap way to grab Fusion materials you need since Nochiudrago itself isn’t a material. Its most relevant effect is its Continuous Effect, protecting all of your other Ritual Beast monsters from targeting. While I would’ve loved if it protected itself, it’s still fine since you can still save Gaiapelio or your other endboard pieces, and targeting effects are still very common in the current meta. It’s a bit overbalanced, but between targeting protection and a neat extender effect, there’s not much more you can ask for!
+Targeting protection is very relevant against modern decks
+Can recycle monsters banished by Ritual Beast Ulti-Reirautari
-Doesn’t protect itself
-Tag out doesn’t lead to meaningful disruption
