While this card is in your GY, if a face-up “Rose Dragon” monster(s) or Plant Synchro Monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or an opponent’s card effect: You can add this card to your hand. Hello Pojo Fans,
Black Rose Dragon Week on Pojo CoTD and we are looking at some new support for the archetype, starting with Roxrose Dragon.
Self-retrieval from the graveyard is a pretty good effect even if it isn’t automatic, and Roxrose can do that when played alongside Plant Synchro monsters or other Rose Dragon monsters. Level 3 Tuner helps along with the other Rose Dragon monsters to get to Black Rose or any variant of the original that you may go for, or Plant-Type Synchro monsters so you can recycle Roxrose back to your hand. Searcher for the archetype except itself, standard stuff there. Six cards in total that you can search from your deck with Roxrose’s effect, but you wont’ be playing all six options, maybe three. Regardless, you will be Synchro Summoning a lot and Roxrose will keep coming back to your hand each time you lose a Plant Synchro or “Rose Dragon” so you won’t be short a card.
Depending on what you have in your hand off Roxrose summon, you will search either a Red or Blue Rose Dragon, or tomorrow’s card: Basel Rose Shoot.

I’m sure a ton of players loved Akiza and her Black Rose Dragon enough to be happy to see more Rose Dragon support, so let’s take a look at the new cards by starting with Roxrose Dragon.
Roxrose is a Level 3 DARK Dragon Tuner with 1600 ATK and 1200 DEF. Fine Level 3 stats, DARK is great and Dragon is a strong Type, plus being a Level 3 Tuner is always good. Upon Normal or Special Summon, Roxrose can search for any card, not named Roxrose Dragon of course, that lists Black Rose Dragon in its effect text. You got a few options here, six in total, so not too many. Red Rose Dragon might be the best monster to search while Basal Rose Shoot is your best Spell/Trap. Ruddy Rose Witch and Blooming of the Darkest Rose are fine, while Blue Rose Dragon and especially Thorn of Malice are both outdated. Anyways, the other effect lets you add this from grave to hand if your Rose Dragon or Plant Synchro you control is destroyed by battle or opponent’s card effect, making up for the card or cards you just lost. Both effects are a hard once per turn, as per expected in 2021. Roxrose Dragon is a fine card that gets better as you get more potential search targets. No Special Summon effect on itself is a downer considering White Rose and Red Rose can Special Summon monsters, but this at least gets you to Red Rose or Basal Rose for that.

Art: 4/5 Might be the best of the small Rose Dragons, I like the purple here.

This week is fun looking at Black Rose Dragon support as we begin with Roxrose Dragon. Level 3, Dark/Dragon, this guy is already off to a great start and that 1600 attack isn’t bad, plus she’s a Tuner. So as we see commonly throughout a Theme anymore, the Normal or Special Summon of this nets you a card specifically with ‘Black Rose Dragon’ in its Text, which is helpful enough. There’s just a few cards meeting that criteria at present, but it can still be a free +1 for you. If this card is in your Graveyard, it can cycle back to your Hand when your Rose Dragon or Plant Synchro (face-up) is/are destroyed in Battle or by Card Effect. Should be near impossible not to bring back to your Hand, but it might have helped more if it had protected one of your Monsters from an attack or something. Being able to reuse it, even being a Tuner, I’m not sure you’d need more than one.

Art: 4/5 Pretty start for the week. This kinda looks more like a salamander or lizard (a water creature maybe?) with the bright pink and purple. But it’s very nice.
